You might have been to India, but I've been living in India all my life, and I certainly don't feel insecure over here.

Those who are saying that India and Pakistan are on the same boat please visit this wikipedia link.
Chronology of terrorist incidents in Pakistan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

India is safe. No cricketer goes ambling into the slums in the middle of the night to get caught and killed
.
I disagree. Terrorist attacks are far more frequent in Pakistan than India. Most of the terrorists are from that region.

its funny how the indian users trying to prove that Pakistan is worst, india is better. Nothing happens there. India is better, blah blah blah, when India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka all the same, things happening there every day. and thats why majority of you users arnt in those place, living in western countries...

try to make things better... stop pointing at each other ...

Every day? Yeah, India is a bit unsafe ATM, but in whichever condition it might me, it's definitely not like Pakistan or Bangladesh- two countries which are safe haven for the terrorists. As you see, the blasts which happen in India, 90 percent of them are carried out by non-Indian militant groups like LeT or Ulfa etc etc. And the root of 95 percent of these terror groups can be traced to countries like Pakistan or Bangladesh- I'm not saying this, it's a proven fact. And from where did you get the info that the majority of Indian users of this site aren't living in India or have left India simply because of terror-attacks?

As per the fans, they should be safe as well. Thousands of tourists come to India each year :). If you are referring it to 26/11, then It's not really a valid argument because that was like a 1 in 1000 event, similar to 9/11.

We have our fair share of things as well - but they usually happen in the slum region, such as gang violence in any ghetto or something you'll find in 'developed' nations.

I think Pakistan is safe for cricket now, but precautions should be taken into consideration...

Completely agree with you.

There aren't bomb blasts in India every day. Fact.

Terrorist attacks are FAR more common in Pakistan, Bangladesh. Fact.

There are more terrorists in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka than India. Fact.

your facts comes from where? ^^ up the ares?

And what exactly is going on over here?

So you don't like India, do you?

how bad other coutries are

Did you ever visit my wikipedia link? I will give 100$ to anyone who will be able to read that whole list.

These are proven facts Mac, you just can't disagree. Denying these facts will only make you stupid.

I'm not banging my drum. This is the reality. You'll understand it as well if you soften your anti-Indian stand a bit and think logically instead of getting driven away by your emotions.

King Cricket added 7 Minutes and 28 Seconds later...

And one more thing, you've said terrorist attacks happen here every hour. Links please.....
And another thing, tell me the name of a terror outfit which has it's roots in India and is still active. I can tell the name of many a outfits which have their roots in Pakistan and Bangladesh. I know, you'll say Indian Mujaheden- but it has been a long time since it's creator has died in the hands of Indian police. The organization is completely in tatters, it's no longer active.

i might as well just stop trying soon as I see Dare already gave up on you on page 1.
you like to bash others to feel batter about your self? ok keep doing your thing i wont stop you

MacLovin added 0 Minutes and 55 Seconds later...

I don't think there is any need for people to get rude/frustrated :) I think this is a good summary of the situation.

- India is under attack from these animals.
- If cricketers went there for a WC, I am more than 110% sure they would be safe
- I might be slightly more concerned if I was a fan, as there would be less security and being a Westerner, you are an obvious target
- There is no way the WC should be held in Pakistan. It is practically a war zone
- Australia, imo is the safest bet. No one really goes after Australia.

I think these are all pretty much non-bias facts. Make of it what you will

So this has been a pretty heated topic.

Members from the subcontinent:
You can argue as much as you want about the security of the subcontinent at the moment, but the fact is that most of the potential tourists for a World Cup (such as members who support other teams) seem to think that the security situation is not good enough. Using the PC members as a subset of the general cricket tourism population, you have to understand that if there are no fans, there will be no world cup (although WC2007 tried hard).

Members outside the subcontinent:
Given the close proximity of this discussion to the 26/11 attacks, there is likely to be wariness about visiting the area to watch cricket. Sadly I cannot vouch for my government to uproot the evils of terrorism in time, but I would urge these members to follow the events occurring in the subcontinent closely. Time does cause change and hopefully we will see a better and collaborative effort in the subcontinent against terrorism.

And a reminder that anyone attacking other members will have their post deleted and infracted. If there's no meaningful discussion left without pointing fingers at each other, this thread will be closed. Cheers.

Exactly what I think. The cricketers might be safe, but what about all the fans who travel there as well? They won't have armed guards protecting them
England's Barmy Army did in 2005 (most of them)

Or the policemen just decided to stick by them for the fun of it...

I certainly hope this new peace deal will stop the violence and bloodshed.

The only thing I can see that comes bad out of this is the west accusing us of "negotiating with terrorists and letting terrorists win"

There's nothing new in that though as far as I see, after all, you can't let terrorists win in India (cough KEVIN PIETERSINGH cough cough) but you can let them win in Pakistan.

Anyway, terrorist attacks in huge cities Cricketman (of Pakistan) - doesn't usually happen. All you hear about are NWFP, Swat, and Baluchistan - thats it, the worse one in a city lately has been Marriott, but even then it wasn't as bad as 11/26.

I just hope that this Sri Lankan tour might help us out a bit...

Not really true. Terrorism has affected almost all the areas of the sub-continent- including Indian towns and cities, specially Mumbai and Srinagar.

How many have occured in Lahore and Karachi?

Is it quite coincidental that all of the matches for Asia Cup, and ICC Champions Trophy were arranged in Lahore and Karachi (and surrounding cities like Faislabad and Multan)

Peshawar hasn't had a cricket match since 2006, and they won't be getting one till... well a VERY long time.

We haven't seen a major incident in Islamabad since the Marriott, and I am hopeful it will remain this way for another 2-3 years in order to show that we are fit enough to host the World Cup.

I guess it doesn't help the fact that your president comes out and say "Taliban is trying to take over my country."
