*Spector*-----*A.Ferdinand*-------*Upson*----*McCartney*

*Solano*-----------*Noble*------------*Mullins*-------*Marveaux*

*Bellamy*----------*Aaritalo*

Going into the game I really wanted to end our tour of Croatia on a good note. We so far have drawn one and won one and would be great to win the last one. Their team is incredibly fit and will have us for stamina. Like usual we started better coming straight out of the blocks with Marveux putting Mullins through against the Keeper but he couldn't keep his composure and hit his shot over. Now every big team deserves some luck right? Well we sure got some here as Mark Noble hit a powerful shot which hit Skvorc right in the Queens Jewels and that left Aaritalo 5 yards from goal and he took his chance. 1-0 up after 17 minutes is what I'm talking about! Attacking play is our mentality and we get numerous chances but again we start losing ourselves at the vital moment and steering the shot wayward. We need to keep our cool. Carton Cole and Keiron Dyer get ready come on for Mika Aaritalo and Mark Noble who seem to be struggling with fitness at the moment. We then get our second disallowed goal in two games! A brilliant corner from Solano gets to Noble through the midst of other players and he heads home. Apparently he pushed someone? The exact same incident happened in the last match! Subs made but I think I'll keep my formation for now, although I may go more defensive and keep the ball a little more as time moves on. Straight after the subs have been made and Koprivnica get two chances but miss them both thanks to great saves by Wright, they surely are going to rue those chances later. 8 minutes till half time and we get our second of the day! Which then in turn get's chalked of for offside. A brilliant move with Bellamy finishing it off and he's already on a yellow and he has stormed up to the referee... only a warning! He's got to be careful. Fortunately we survive with 11 till the break and we have a well deserved lead and are in good stead for another victory.

A bit of encouragement is what they need so many times. Lucas Neil on for Nobby Solano and Boa Morte on for Marveux. Collins and Gabbidon on for Spector and Upson means we resort to a 3-3-2-1-1 formation. You've got to try things out in friendlies, non? Hopefully they can adjust to the different tacit and formation and the Wing Backs can do all they can. I'm hoping for them to keep the lead and if they extend it then it will be an extra. Come on Lads!

Soon into the second half the lads seem so tired! Bellamy makes way for Camara whilst Mullins comes off for Anthony Grant. Just before Bellamy went off though he had a chance one on one with the keeper in which he slid a shot to the far post, edging just past the post. So close! McCartney goes off for Babayaro and Bowyer comes on for Ferdinand. A reshuffle of formation again me thinks. Pantsil comes on for the shattered Cole as the second half brings nothing but possession football. No real chances and there is only 15 minutes left. Me and my big mouth. Koprivnica come in with a great chance which is saved by Wright until another player shoots but Gabbidon was on the line and it deflected off him. A lucky break for us there! 2-0! No? No way. The third, THIRD disallowed goal of the day. Henri Camera with a chest then volley inside the box off a Bowyer cross has been chalked off for offside. That's a joke. There was a player just coming on the pitch from the goal area. He was miles onside! 4 minutes of added time and you can clearly see everyone West Ham player behind the ball and in our own half, defending as a unit is the way to go. It's all over! We win our second friendly. It should of been so many more and would of been if we had a decent ref. If only we could report officials for their performances in friendlies. Oh well, that's the tour of Croatia done.

Koprivnica 0 - 1 West Ham Utd

A decent game in the end, although the second half lacked any killer chances and apart from the disallowed goal(take 3) there wasn't really anything to talk about. Man of the match was my man Mika Aaritalo and he sure deserved it as he did so much work in the 1 minutes he played; getting the goal, having better pass completion than everyone and general hard work. Everyone played well again but we have to learn to stay fit! IT's a joke, I make a sub and sometimes the sub can't even continue. They need a day off training methinks. Anyway that's the matches this week. Weekly update next and then 2 matches next week. Hectic schedule!?

good win although maybe should have scored more, good performance from Aaritalo and good to see you trying things out

Looking good Jaz. The team with no logo did pretty well to keep you at 1-0 though, even if it did mean bribing the officials :p

Currently the second strongest team in Croatia.

So the 1-0 win, away for home, should be considered a good result. (even if you exclude the disallowed goals)

Not bad Jaz :p Nice to see you're back, and does that conclude your friendlies? If so, play your first game of the EPL season, post it up and wait for me and we'll do our next at the same time ;)

However, I won't be on from now til after 7-8pm as I have a cricket match! SO I'll be on MSN around 8pm, if you really can'twait play your next.

Aye, I have two more friendlies to try things out and we have done poorly so far in the friendlies. But do things get better? :p

What happened in Zimbabwe, stays in Zimbabwe. ;)

Thanks for that(I can't remember your name, begins with 'S' I think) and for the logo I did used that because of in their information page it says their rivals are Slavan which is in the logo and I didn't see the NK so I got all mixed up...

I have two more friendlies to post up today and I have already done about 4 games in the Premiership so far... :p Will wait for you.

Ah okay. I'll get them done as quick as possible but it might take me a few days!

Weekly Review

Three weeks in and I'm still living the dream. When the Premiership starts I think I will really start thinking about this as at the moment it is hard to get my head around it. Anyway, things at West Ham have been good with us winning 2 out of our 3 friendlies so far, drawing the other. If we can just take the momentum from the last two friendlies into the games against the spaniards which are coming up then I am sure we will have a good chance.

Charlie Adam, Robert Green and Freddy Ljungberg have all come back from injury and will all play against Deportivo tomorow. Apart form that we still have the same 4 injuries from last week. Quashie, Davenport and Parker all missing the very start of the season whilst Faubert will mists about half of it! The team hasn't b een really fit in recent weeks and that will have to change as we prepare for the domestivc scene. In the last game I made 10 substitutions and only two players survived the entire game, one being the goalkeeper. The majority of the team should be able to make it through a game, not just 2 people. Things will be changing around in training.

Like last week only the one player arrived at Upton Park this week. Cillian Sheridan, who I said we offered a contarct to last week accepted the offer, so came to us. Hopefully the Irish youngster can do well in the Under 18's and play in the reserves before the end of the season. Great talent. We have been sniffing round quite a few players this week, like Doudin and even Christopher Samba, as we have made a ?1.5mil offer which hasn't bee accepted or rejected yet. We are still struggling to sell players with no-one making any offers for our players, although half the team are wanted by one or more teams. Hopefully that will change next week and we will sell a bundle, making a bundle in the process. Hopefully a few more players will be brought in and that will be us till the end of the season, I'm not really looking to buy many players in January.

Only the two friendlies left this season. Spanish teams Deportivo and Real Sociedad will travel to Upton Park to face us as we continue to prepare for the big matches. We can beat Real Sociedad but I think we may suffer our first loss against Deportivo unfortunately.

Deportivo are usually hard to beat at the start of the season. In all my campaigns in La Liga, I noticed they were always initial table toppers!

I am assuming your assistant manager might have informed you about this, but striker Adrian must have been the man to watch out for.

Hard to beat? They sure are. What's your first name m_vaughan? The next update should be up before 18:00 GMT.

They have been pretty crap in real life in recent years. Although this 2007-08 was an improvement by their standards.

My first name is Michael:D

Michael? I was completely wrong. :D

A fantastic, mesmerizing start by us gets us the usual start; a disallowed goal. Mika Aaritalo hit a shot from the edge of the bar and Cragi Bellamy followed it up, apparently offside. I ain't sure, he might of been. He's too fast. As we strangely continue to dominate the early play Ashton hits a volley from the edge of the box which can only be tipped in by Deportivo's number one, Dudu Aouate. Fine save! another chance goes begging for us as Dean Ashton becomes through on goal with the keeper, but hits a weak shot straight into his hands. 20 minutes of pure attacking play by us then finally gives us the lead, Aaritalo the supplier. A fine cross from Freddy Ljungberg on the right travelled all the way to the back post, where Aaritalo headed back to Ashton who volleyed home. Cracking move. 2 in 4 minutes!!! A fantastic bit of play from Craig Bellamy who brings the ball from inside our own half down the right flank and then once near their area he gives it to the scorer. The scorer then hit a beauty from 20 yards, but who was the scorer? There's only one Freddy Ljungberg, walking along, singing his song, walking in a Ljungberg wonderland! 3 goals in 8 minutes!? Unfortunately the goal didn't go to us. As injured Juan Rodriquez went off his replacement Krupoviesa, hit a beauty of a free kick to bring them back into the game. A stunning free kick but we have to keep our cool. As the half wears on, Deportivo start clawing back possession and start getting back into the game with some more chances and shots. They have played so well in the last 10-15 minutes, possession is no 50-50 despite our amazing start. Ok now I am absolutely fuming, Craig Bellamy is getting on my tits. ANOTHER, yes another disallowed goal for the Welshman. I'm not even going to describe it. With Half Time beckoning Deportivo get one last chance as striker Riki pummels home a powerful striker, only to be denied by Hammers keeper Green. He's having a great game. With the game in stoppage time Anton Ferdinand fouls Guardado on the edge of the box right in the dead center. Krupoviesa steps up, the scorer of their first goal, and... scores! Another great free-kick but what was Ferdinand thinking? We know he is a dead ball specialist and the foul was silly. We're letting them back into the game now...

2-2. Although the score is a draw at the moment I feel that we have played the better football and should be in the lead, but as many times in football, that is not what is happening. Mika Aaritalo had a great first half and with a little knock he picked up early on, I think he'll come of for Marveaux. No other changes particular needed, as somehow we are much fitter than we were in our most recent games. Lads have had a few days of training, no wonder why! Back to the second half now and hopefully we can regain our lead and this time keep it.

5 minutes gone and Deportivo have started stronger. Substitute De Guzman came close first of all with a shot just inside the are and then Verdu with a shot just outside the area. We really need to focus again, otherwise we will find ourselves behind. 5 minutes later after telling the lads to wake up, we take the lead. A brilliant run down the wing by Marveaux is then expertly ended with a inside pass into Ashton who hits a powerful lobe to the back post as the keeper stands and watch. Absolutely breath taking move. Ashton's second of the game, complete your hat-trick son! 17 minutes in and one small change as Babayaro comes on for McCartney to sure up the defence. 13 minutes to go in the second half, which I must admit apart from the goal has been completely different that the first half, we make some more changes. My man of the match Dean Ashton goes off to give Henri Camara a burn and Charlie Adam, after impressing for the first time in claret and blue, goes of for Anthony Grant. With 4 minutes left in the match, we get a great 6 v 6 opportunity but then somehow they intercept and it goes down to the other end and Adrian has a clear run on goal. You can see in the lads faces, the determination to get back, and back one person did as Lucas Neil recovers to make a brilliant last ditch tackle. Well played my boy. 3 minutes of added time, 3 minutes away from a historic win. Corner. Out of the 22 players playing 18 are in our penalty area! Heck, even their keeper is up. Great leap and header by Neil clears the danger and soon it's a 2 on 3 situation at their end, unfortunately their keeper was back by now. The attack ends with a very disappointing striker from Dyer which goes far too high. 93 minutes on the clock, surely that's it? Yes! Referee Trevor Kettle brings the game to a close, a game in which we beat R.C Deportivo de La Coruna S.A.D!

West Ham Utd 1 - 0 Deportivo la Caruna

14,782 supporters turned out at Upton Park. to see our side beat Deportivo 3-2. Everyone played a vital part today, even the subs and it is such a great achievement. Ashton was clearly my man of the match, although the actual man of the match was their goal scoring sub. I can't fault anyone today, only praise. It makes my job so easy when the players are willing to do these kind of performances and it can only be good from here on. Real Sociedad up next, then it is the start of the English domestic season. I'm hoping we can make a massive difference this season; of that I'm sure.
