So it was my last week of preparation for the new Premier League season, and I was very happy with myself after a 100% winning pre-season. One of the most satisfying things of the whole pre-season, was that I was close to certain about the tactics that are best for us, something in which you try and achieve during the pre season andI had done exactly that, which isn't always the case when you are new to a club. Eggert (Magnusson) and I had a very good chat after the Porto win, and he said he is ecstatic with my progress and he said the fans will be jubilant come the start of the Premier League season opener against Bolton Wanderers tomorrow, and everyone is ready for a real push for the top 10, and beyond if we can snatch that UEFA Cup place, something that I felt the squad is more tha capable of doing, but the main thing is consistency. If we could play in teh same way every game, and bring away results we were certain to get somewhere this season, another key point I have made to the players, is what I call the 'bonus points system' which is pushing for a goal when we are a goal down to snatch a late point and also when we are level near the end, we need to try and snatch all 3 and fans always react well to bonus points.

This is probably the most satisfying thing of the whole pre season and it was that we had played out 5 pre season games without anybody getting injured, the only injuries are the few who were already injured, bar Fedrik Ljungberg who was fighint fit. Lee Bowyer and Steve Sidwell are set to miss the first couple of games, and the more noteable injuries are to Scott Parker and Julien Faubert who will both be out for some time yet. Everyone else is in tip-top condition and everybody is as confident as they possible could be, but most of all, we are a team.

I haven't been as busy in the Transfer Market this week, but I have sealed the signature of one talented youngster. This youngster was John Bostock of Crystal Palace who signed for us on Wednesday on a free transfer as his contract was up. Bostock is an attacking midfielder, and he is just 15 years of age and has at least 20 years of football in his tank and he will improve greatly in his time here. Also, after Scott Parker had been linked with Everton, Manchester City and Aston Villa last week, that trio had eventually withdrawn interest, however Fulham have come in for him and look set to agree to the ?6mil pricetag I have put in the former Chelsea player. Also, George McCartney has attracted the interest of Birmingham again, however they weren't prepared to pay the ?4mil pricetag, and I wasn't prepared to let him go for anything less than that, so I doubt anything will progress in that deal, and that was it on thr Transfer Front this week.

Signs at West Ham Utd were fantastic at the moment and no one had a bad word to say about the up and coming Premier League season, the huge spread of Hammers fans around the country definately thought it was going to be a big season for them, and I am more than confident I can carry it out for them. Here are my first 5 Premiership Fixtures; and I play 3 of the big four consecutively!

Match Report:

We came out to the fans singing forever blowing bubbles as usual at Upton Park, but we started of the back foot, Bolton nearly got themselves in front after 11 minutes, a short ball to Andranik from Nolan, Andranik gave it to Davies who turned and his effort looked certain for the net, and the Bolton fans in the away end cheered, but in flew Robert Green with an absolutely magnifiscent save, he recieved praise from the players and clapped persuasively, I shouted at the players to calm it down and get it on the floor, and then we started to play our way. We knocked it about at an unbelievable tempo and threatened to break through the Bolton defence a couple of times. However, Bolton got themselves the breakthrough on 33 minutes, a through ball from Diouf found Daniel Braatan in allsorts of space, everyone rushed towards him and cleverly, he managed to pick out Diouf unmarked with an open goal. 1-0 to Bolton. A few hopeful cries of offside, but to no aveil. Just before half time, we nearly sneaked an equaliser, a superb strike from Balazs Dzsudzsak was saved by Jaaskaleinen, but the rebound fell to Ljungberg who had to attempt an acrobatic effort to steer it on target but it sailed over.

Half time came, and I wasn't disappointed with the team, they had tried their best and I couldn't ask for more than that, but the front two just hadn't been in the game, especially Ashton and I took a risk by bringing him off at half time and on came Carlton Cole.

We didn't look too much better at the start of the second half either, and Bolton striker Daniel Braatan was causing us all sorts of problems at the back, but without scoring. After these worrying attacks from Bolton, nothing much happened so on 72 mins I made my final 2 changes, Noble on for Dzsudzsak and Boa Morte on for Freddy Ljungberg in my last throw of the dice to snatch a point or even more. 4 minutes after the changes we nearly got level, a great ball from Noble was chased down by Bellamy who crossed adn Carlton Cole's header was somehow saved by Jussi Jaaskaleinen. I don't belive that save. Did it really happen? Sadly yes... and soon after this, th full time whistle blew and we were left with a sour taste in our mouths.

West Ham Utd 0-1 Bolton

Well, what can I say, nothing worked today. Everything I expected to work wonders, did not go to plan at all and Bolton trampled all over us. But its definately a learning curb for us, and the first loss isn't always a bad one, as it brings you back down to Earth. And you never want to play a team who is on the back of a defeat, so bring on Spurs, thats what I say. I still told the players they tried their best, and I couldn't ask for more than that. ets hope we get a result against Spurs, or else losing the first 5 games is a distinct possibilty with us playing 3 of the top 4 in the next 3 games after the Spurs game.

You got your wish Audrey :(

Aww unlucky Craig. Why did you have to make him lose Audrey
Bounce back by stuffing Spurs next. KUTGW.

I literally cannot believe he saved that header. It was an unstoppable header, but alas, he stopped it! Stupid c***. :p

Keep the comments coming ;) Whoever does the 100th post is the best manager ever :p
