West Indies in Australia Jan-Feb 2012/13

Watto scoring a century on his return.Hughes scoring more than 80.Bailey played well again. What a catch by Pollard.Finch finally scored more than 30 :)

Good match, good crowd. Pity there's nothing on the calendar for Canberra in the near future.

The West Indies rely too much on Gayle and Pollard. It is evident in this series big time. If the two fail ,then the entire WI has to go down.

The Cricket Australia (CA) National Selection Panel (NSP) has today announced a 12-player Australia squad for the KFC T20 INTL match against West Indies at the Gabba next Wednesday.

Australian squad:

George Bailey (Hurricanes)
Nathan Coulter-Nile (Scorchers)
Ben Cutting (Heat)
James Faulkner (Stars)
Aaron Finch (Renegades)
Brad Haddin (Sixers)
Josh Hazlewood (Sixers)
Ben Laughlin (Hurricanes)
Clint McKay (Stars)
Shaun Marsh (Scorchers)
Ben Rohrer (Renegades)
Adam Voges (Scorchers)

Who won the T20 ? Heat? Why only one player? Have the NSP gone bonkers again?

Yeah, give Pomers, Lynn or Burns a run. Can't understand Voges coming back into the T20I/ODI scene at 33. Looks like Voges IN, Dussey OUT FOREVER.

So from that

Finch
Marsh
Haddin
Bailey
Voges
Rorher
Faulkner
NCN
Cutting
McKay
Hazlewood

Pomersbach is unlucky they have decided to go a bowling all rounder at 7 else he would have been a shoe in. Rorher has deserved the call up, been consistent for 2 seasons now. Spin depth issue being shown up with no spinner picked in the side.

Makes you wonder how Doherty is going to India when he can't even get a game at the SCG.

We shouldn't be playing two spinners at any stage in India, just the 3 quicks + lyon. So hopefully doherty is just carrying the drinks on tour.

Well Doherty shouldn't be in the squad for ODIs, let alone tests. It's no wonder we actually start winning when he's not playing.

Odd that the selectors were willing to go back to Haddin, yet weren't willing to go back to Hogg - a man good enough to be in the World Cup squad 6 mths ago, and the best Aussie spinner in the Big Bash. Only other guy with reasonable numbers from big bash was Aaron O'Brien, he might have even fit as a bowling all-rounder. Ditto Steve O'Keefe, who while he didn't have a good BBL, he deserves some encouragement from the selectors I feel.

Oh and yeah Australia won last night...yawn :p
Nice to see Mitch Johnson ripping in at 145 and doing a bit with the new ball. He'll always have a supporter behind this desk :thumbs

Ditto for Shane Watson, he had a couple of lives last night, but still his class is obvious. Compare him vs Finch and it's obvious who the more comfortable player is at this level. Makes the whole idea of domestic form seem silly: Finch was going great guns in Ryobi and BBL, Watto couldn't score in his club match or his one Ryobi match. Also reinforces the idea that Watson = opener. Take note selectors please - the top 4 in Aus cricket for the foreseeable future should be Watson, Warner, Hughes, Clarke. If Cowan, Marsh, Finch etc. want a go, learn to be a 5 or 6...

I thought last night was a good game. Pollard's knock was outstanding, I have a lot of respect for an innings like that. Shame for him and his side that it came in a losing effort.
