I agree with every word said by Tony Cozier. The Aussie media really goes over the top and is much of an embarrassment to an average Aussie cricket enthusiast, whose only wish of reading unbiased news is constantly ignored .

they also mentioned how the West Indies have no real drive to become any better and that is why they are so poor,

What the hell would you know about the WI not having any drive to improve and get better? Not much different then those guys talking about the West Indies in those articles.

I can't ever see them getting them back into being a consistant strong team in test cricket again, maybe next time they come out we'll have to schedule two tests up in Darwin and Cairns, I miss the epic 5 test series we used to have with them.

You mean the ones that used to end in 3 days, or by huge innings wins by the WI, or buy 300 runs, 200 runs.
Like Cozier said Australia wasn't anything special when the WI were at their best and nobody was saying anything about them.

I think the difference is that in the 80's Australia were trying their best, the WI were better- thats all. there are so many reports over the past 10 years that the WI are lazy and dont want to train, so surely its no surprise that people are upset. How many coaches have they had that that continued to be dismayed at the lack of application? Sure their structure at home isnt great, but it wasnt great in the 70's and 80's either. It has never been great.

Busting your gut and failing is whole lot better than not busting your gut and failing.

He did it at the MCG against SA last year. He usually gets in swing but he has bowled a few out swingers. But he only gets it going for an over before losing it.

I agree with you. West Indies were maybe the most dominant team in the history of the game. Yet, they were true gentlemen on the pitch & off it. The fact that they won 2 World Cups without uttering a word about the opposition in press conferences and on the pitch, speaks very highly of them.

I would like to see what the media says after West Indies beat Australia in the 2nd test, which is a major possibility as the Windies have the hunger for a fight and are not intimidated by the Aussies, as Lara articulately put it on rediff - Barath's ton proved Aussies not to be feared: Lara: Rediff Sports

Mate the Windies were not quite.

If you take a look at the archives there were quite a lot of "talk".

I think Richie made an arrogant news conference before or after winning some series.

Anyways none of us would remember that by now because it happened over 20 years ago.
