What makes Australia so damn good?

OK,
i lived in England for 15 years and played cricket to quite a high level for m age

Under 14 County and Under 15 County as well as school and club

Now i live in Australia and play rep, club and school
the enthusiasm and standard of school cricket is unbelievable.
In England most schools dont have an A and B team and its rare to find a C tem

In Australia my school goes down to F's and eighth eleven in opens (Yrs 12/13) in England

There is a higher push and if you are good enough you will play club ad rep at a higher level

Its just a better set up and if England are to work on their future in world cricket
they should set up school tournaments thorughout the season not just friendies and push harder to get club cricket up to scratch

Australian culture largely encompasses the game. All classes play it, whether your rich or poor, and all have the same chances of making it big. In places like England and so on only the rich are given the best resources and the poor are left out.

Australians are very talented athletes naturally though I think.

But we also have parks everywhere, teams everywhere and our attitude to have a go at everything, never give in is probably better than most countries. But I think this is due to our high standard of living.

We also have 6 state teams compared to like 25 or so county teams. Only the best- the very best- will make it. Out talent identifcation programs are also excellent, as is our sports science resources.

I studied sports science and physiology at the University of Western Australia where they tested Murali and Shoaib Akhtar and Sami.(I wicketkept to Murali sorry to brag but it was a highlight!) It is a renowned Sports Science Uni with awesome facilities yet its student population is only 17,000. Quality over quantity.

Plus our weather is awesome. And we are a very well developed country with no poverty and unemployment at 4%.

I wish all nations had the oppurtunities we do and all people have the oppurtunites I have, although Im from a working class background. I myself coach sport and a coordinate sporting events and recreation activites for a living and get paid very very well. Its awesome but I wish all you sport lovers have had the same oppurtunites I have had.

No strong opposition is the reason Australia have been great side. Had India got the bowling of the class of Australia or Pakistan we would have been dominating rather than Australia.

True;)

Geez, seems like every Aussie has that DVD:D

Lol, its because they are big Australian men! BEER!

Well every Aussie has to have this.

I think instead of calling a game Ricky Ponting Cricket 07 it should have been Adam Gilchrist 07 as the batting seems that way

Because Aussie's Yellow Kits?, Because They Lost When There Wore Dark CB Green Kits and Lost the CB Series.

Or iF iT'S ALL In the Beers?. Then I'll Presume, BCCI Would Spend All their Money on them and Get their Players to Drink It.

I don't see how that has much of an impact, West Indies during it's golden era had none of those, still has none of those. Also, no poverty? Come on, get real, it's low but it exists. I could say the same statement above about the Uk, only difference being our unemployment is 5.4%.
