I'm not talking about England away matches, but England games at home.

No matter who is playing in England against England, I somehow get up at whatever time it is to watch those matches.

England vs New Zealand - Somehow, I got up to watch every match. India vs England - I watched every day, every moment. West Indies vs England - EVERY single moment, I watched.

What I do not understand, is what makes English Test Matches enjoyable? We see test cricket in the subcontinent and how slightly boring it can get, but if there is test cricket being played in England, I go to great lengths in order to watch it.

Some may say its English conditions, but I rarely ever watch test cricket in South Africa, the West Indies, or New Zealand!

It could possibly be the commentators, but I doubt it :p

Anyone feel this way, or am I just "odd"? :p

I am sure its the commentators and gentle crowds there that makes it interesting...

But whats the "vibe"

I will find a solution to this... Maybe not today, but definitely tomorrow :p

Wait - actually not tomorrow, PCPL matches take place then. Thursday it is, if not today.

So anyway, to be honest, I never liked watching old men in dresses (crowd), so thats not the "vibe" we're looking for.

alright i get it... some hot british chics are there in the crowds... thats the vibe...:p

I find Aussie tests more enjoyable.
But the English season is right up there as well. Test matches played in the subcontinent are sadly not that enjoyable.

The crowd; good natured humour, fancy dress, no violence, the surrounding landscape and Bumble

Every crowd around the world has their qualities. e.g Windians will keep dancing no matter what the score

I think its the fact that you know at any one moments England can completely collapse or do something special. Also we don't make it easy forourselves

i think its the pitches in england which offer sean and swing to the bowlers and batsmen are really tested which makes it interesting unlike in the subcontinent where the pitches are dead.

I love watching matches in RSA. The scantily clad ladies help you see. ;)

The pitches are good and aren't tailored for the home team they are done how the groundsma wants them (mr moron who is muralis best mate at Trent Bridge). The coverage is the best. The fans still actually care about it, a test match would still outsell a twenty20 or ODI if we had a big enough ground to actually not sell out because atm the grounds are still quite small.

Everybody thinks test matches are dead, but still in England they are sold out the whole time, everytime there is an international match it is sold out!

Its that atmosphere on the first day at Lord's. Priceless.

I'm biased but I'll echo the comments above.

Test cricket is the most popular format for English spectators, so you are guaranteed a good atmosphere and a full stadium.

You never know what you are going to get from the Weather. Will it be sunny, will it be overcast or will we get some rain? (yes). Conditions in England are perfect for cricket, it no coincidence, the game originated here so its based on our grass and weather.

You never know what you are going to get from England. I don't believe watching a dominant side like Aus is as exciting, I dont like forgone conclusions, I lkie tight matches where the game swings one way then the other (then back again!).

One big thing if you aren't from England is that we play our cricket when nobody else does, so you are starved of action and anything will do ;)
