18-55 lenses may look the basic ones and you may hear few people say they are "useless", but they are the ones which provide the best wide angle shots. Looking forward for your clicks:).

A suggestion: click in RAW format. Although it eats up memory, but being a beginner, you may not have correct idea of how much exposure you need at instances. Using RAW will give you option to change the exposure value later :) .

I know about that already. I've had experience with DSLR photography before. :p I'll probably buy the other lenses in the months or years to come. If I know correctly, having a zoom lens as well as 50-mm lens is absolutely necessary.

Thanks a lot though. Any discussion is always welcome. :)

LOL never knew you used DSLR before. Your facebook album says you clicked with your phone.

And if you aren't into zooming, buy a prime lens. Although it has fixed focal length, it enlightens the subject and makes the photograph look quite beautiful:).

Yea, I meant a prime lens when I said 50-mm. My bad.

I worked a lot for my college society using a DSLR (Canon 550D, to be exact) during our cultural festival. None of it is in my albums though, which is partly photographed from my point-and-shoot camera and partly from my phone.
