Who will break Lara's Test Record of 400 Runs?

I dont think anyone will break laras record of 400 because every team focuses on winning the game not drawing the match. If some one does it will be shewag because he has already scored 300 in a day and if it is his day then he will be able to play an excellent knock and score 400+

A lot of people seem to be forgeting that the West Indies had 137 overs to try to bowl England out in the last innings. They finished up with five wickets I think with at least 3 English players throwing their wickets away.

I don't think Gilchrist will. The way he plays, he will probably end up throwig his wicket away at one stage.

well you will need a batsman who plays with caution as well as aggression, if anyone is to break the great Brian Lara's 400 test record. I think if anyone is close to this, my bets will be with Rahul Dravid, the wall!

nope Dravid cannot do it... he just concentrates too hard and puts in a bit too much in every innings... its good for India but it means that he has to falter at some point of time... his commitment would be there but his faculties may desert him somewhere around 270-300...

I bet Dravid could play more balls than any player in the world, and can also stay unbeaten for a much longer time.

i was searching for u dude... :) ... you can bet that Bush will win the Iraqi election... but bets are better off if put on the right side of the table... about Dravid playing more balls than any player in the world - i don't have a doubt...but to make 400 u need to score too...he plays at a reasonable speed...good enough for Indian team's overall outlook of scoring at more than 3.5 in a day... but the amount of effort he puts in is simply too much for him to last 400 runs... he may last 1000 * 1,2,3,4,5 balls but 400 runs noway... and i am not saying this... just grab the December issue(or perhaps January) of Wisden Asia Cricket and there in a interview the Wall himself clarifies his priorities and limitations to the readers... also the description of the man by the author after he had scored that mountain of 270 tells us that thankfully our Wall won't chase such futile records...

i can't see any body doing it right at the moment unless they played someone aweful like pakistan or england............

i'll make up a name.............sani lancer

I think the only two people with a chance of beating his record are Gilchrist and Sehwag. Everyone else scores too slow. If it's their day they can have a strike rate of around 80-100 and that's just what you need if you want to break the record.
