Why T20 sucks...

I don't think it sucks, and I don't think it is hit and giggle either. Over the last 6 years since it began Twenty20 has developed all its own skill sets. Lancashire tried giving an over of spin first up, England bowled around the wicket just inside the wide lines, Mahela Jayawardene used the tactic of being an anchor for the innings. Twenty20 is now a highly skilled game.

It isn't boring either, not for me anyway. I wasn't bored for any of the World Cup and I am actually delighted we were the hosts of such a great tournament. I think the Champions Trophy will be nothing compared to this.

I really do like T20.It was a replacement for the old B+H Cup,so where would county cricket be without it?
I still love 50 overs and test,It still needs to stay no matter what. There still are great odi games and test games that are not boring, and provide great finishes.Do you think that say,the Australia v SA game of 400+ would have been possible without T20.Was not a boring game at all.
T20 has changed the other two forms of the game for the better, and I just hope that ICC and so on realise that there are still people who love the ODI format.
For sure it can be boring, but football can be boring too.0-0 game when the teams just cancel eachother out.Don't you get as many exciting football matches as you do Cricket. Also, you can watch 7 hours of cricket, for about the same price as watching 90 mins of football.I know what I'd rather watch.
So,I don't think T20 sucks,I just hope that every game/tournament doesn't become T20,because watching 7 hours of cricket is what the game is all about!

I quite agree with this post. It's just with the lines I bolded.

1. Nope. It still remains a less serious, light hearted, "luck" game. You will just have to whack without following any rules. Though it scores high in the entertainment factor, and that's why I like it. A form of cricket which can freshen us up.

2. Nah. The CT is more important.

Just wait for CT to come, it will be fantastic to have a major ODI tournament after sometime and most importantly there won't be any minnows so it should be more competetive.

Champions Trophy more important? :laugh:laugh:laugh No way. The Champions Trophy is dead.

I dont think ODI will survive also. It will struggle to find identitiy between two extreme versions of game.

That's right. I have asked a lot of my friends who watch cricket regularly if they are interested in watching the champions trophy and they all replied "NO WAY! NOT ANY MORE"

No way twenty cricket is really great you can't pick the result before 17 to 18 overs people always like twenty rather it is ipl twenty world cup and champions leaugue dont means t20 is bad :noway

Twenty20 is the best thing to ever have happened to Cricket! All those who deny this fact at the moment will gradually change their mind in the next few months.

all formats are good in there own rights, test cricket a 5 day game which needs alot of patience to watch it unless it's India v Pakistan or Australia v England which are the ones i can watch most parts of it as it is a good match between two good teams. 50 overs game is a one day game 7 hours of play which you can watch but nothing like test cricket it still has alot of excitement twenty20 is a game where you go all out gun blazing you see alot of sixes and fours and game cannot be decided until the end. so really there is noting wrong with any of them it's matter of what people like or don't like but each 3 formats does have alot of interest becuase all of these formats does have a period where you gotta bite your nails for your team to win but 2020 of course keeps you interested until the end because it's 2020 and people like entertainment, but i like all formats:D

Well said mate. It all depends on your personality. No wonder we had a healthy debate over it. I withdraw my earlier statement saying that 50-over cricket is essentially worthless. :cheers

Makes me laugh, T20 isn't exactly new, yet you keep getting threads like this popping up and people talking like its a brand new fad.

I started watching the T20 cup in England pretty much as soon as it started. I skipped watching group games for a couple of years (when it was removed from my Kent membership) choosing to take my holidays when the competition was on. But after watching 2 finals days on the trott, I have been to a few group games this year.

It's not just a bit of fun
It's not going anywhere
It's not going to kill off ODI's

Probably internationally, we'll see a reduction in the amount of 50 over games played in a tour (This is on the whole a good thing because there are on the whole far too many) as more T20i's replace them.

The problem I have with them is finding the right timeslot. It's great for armchair fans. get home and turn on the TV to watch an evening of cricket, but it isn't so good for the fans who actually go to watch. They generally don't start late enough that you can come home from work and go unless you live around the corner from the ground and to me it feels a bit of a waste to book a days holiday for a match that doesn't start until after you would have finished.

Currently I'm listening to audio from Surrey v Kent at the Oval. its a terrific game. Kent had a great start, looked like getting a huge total, but Surrey came back to restrict Kent to 168-6. Surrey started fast, looked well ahead of the rate, but then Kent came back and started taking regular wickets (Surrey are 136-6 after 16 overs). Really don't know who is going to win this.

As I type Afzaal has been bowled by Mahmood for 62.

Edit:

Kent win by 1 run with 2 balls remaining! (Including a 6 run penalty for slow over rate basically because Robbie Joseph lost the plot and bowled pants one over). Who says T20 can't flow, who says its onesided!

Test Cricket is the ultimate form of the game. I would rather watch a test match between associate nations than a International T20. Even world class bowlers didnt get any respect in T20. I hate how Delhi Daredevils treated a legend like McGrath. Not even a single game:eek::eek:, Its Glenn McGrath we are talking bout. In test pitches are more friendly for bowlers so the test between the bat and ball is even.
