Woolmer ball tampering trend

Former Australia Test captain and match referee Barry Jarman unveiled a severely tampered ball used by a South Africa side coached by Woolmer against India in a limited-overs game in South Africa in 1997.

Woolmer is coach of the Pakistan side that forfeited the fourth Test against England at The Oval after the side protested against the decision by umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Doctrove to accuse them of ball-tampering.

Jarman kept the issue secret until yesterday, when he produced the ball which has been in his possession ever since he demanded it be replaced.

Jarman, no longer on the refereeing panel, noticed the ball was being scratched by two fieldsmen who would then lift their shirts and rub sweat into one side of it, causing an imbalance that would make it swing at freakish angles.

Looks like Woolmer has struck again, and what do you know an Aussie official caught his team out back then too.

And if you see the new thread I made he also wants to scrap the ball tampering law. 2 days later this article pops up which makes Woolmer look like a guy that likes his ball tampering.

And with all these articles, it is starting to seem clear that Pakistan might just have done this ball-scampering thing!

I still wouldn't rush to conclusions. Especially on the back of one article, which says that sweat was rubbed in. Isn't sweat allowed to be rubbed in either, way? I thought sweat and spit were fair game in shining the ball.

At last Darrell Hair has spoken as if he has some evidence. In DNA sport today he supposedly said that "a lot of people have said a lot of things, and they will pay when I show what I have" or something along those lines. Whatever happens, this hearing should be pretty electric.

The last thing as a Pakistani fan I want to happin is ICC banning or PCB chuking Bob away, he's made our team way better, LEGEND he is!

It says scratched then rubbed so the damage is being done with the fingernails which is against the laws of the game and hence they replaced the ball.
