No place for Gough despite the media reports last week. All for the best imo - we should be using the tournament to blood new players.

Gough was the media reports :p. Did anyone else see his rant on Sky Sports?

No Powar was quite a big mistake. And Viru too, should have been Raina/Kaif in his place.
But Kumble is Mr.Reliable and does well in pressure situations. He has the desire and experience, he might do well after all.

the one about Nixon's old so why can't i play. Hejust isn't good enough. Broad is a far better player. :happy

I was very surprised they dropped Powar. He has bowled well and consistently since the England series in 2006. Kumble has looked over the hill in ODI's, an example of this was when he got carted for 18 in an over. Powar is probably a better fielder and batsman in ODI's.

I agree on Sehwag being picked, he has done the business time and time again before this, so if he finds some kind of form it would give India a real boost.

He was like "I can bowl cutters, yorkers, slower balls, I can open the bowling with normal swing, bowl at the death with reverse swing. I've done it before and can do it again". Self confidence is good, but that was a bit over the top :p

Viru failed today though. He better find some form early on, or we're toast.
As for Kumble, we'll have to see...Powar would have still been better though.

if Gough was a good as he said then he would be a cricketing god. He didn't even take a wicket against Pakistan if i remember right

Gough is so far past it that he can't even see what 'it' is anymore. Brood would get an absolute tonking in the World Cup and I think our squad is perfect as it is. I think Loye should have been included but I agree with their reasoning for dropping him so overall, the squad is fine.

i think are world cup is ok, it could have been better by having Mal Loye in the squad. I think we should stick with Paul Nixon through the world cup, then hopefuly geriant jones will refind form again and we can have him back, if we get a in form jones for the 2007 summer, we can hopefuly have a keeper that will stay around for quite a while :D or even better, get James Foster in a england shirt for ever :D

You get the impression that since that ridiculous double hundred against Pakistan, he just doesn't care enough any more. Maybe a bit earlier, but it seems like he's not mentally fit. It's a very long run of indifferent form.

The "finisher" is usually associated with Michael Hussey or Michael Beven but Mahendra Singh Dhoni cannot be far off that name.

Code:
                     Mat I NO Runs HS1 HS2 HS3 Ave 100 50 0
won batting 2nd 19 15 10 730 183* 80 77* 146.00 1 5 0

Heres the Windies squad

West Indies squad Brian Lara (capt), Ramnaresh Sarwan, Chris Gayle, Dwayne Smith, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Dwayne Bravo, Marlon Samuels, Ian Bradshaw, Corey Collymore, Jerome Taylor, Denesh Ramdin, Devon Smith, Lendl Simmons, Daren Powell, Kieron Pollard

http://content-nz.cricinfo.com/wc2007/content/player/230559.html

Random one is Pollard who is yet to play an ODI or test match.

The Windies must of get clearance for Marlon Samuels, which is good news for them. Good to see them stick with Lindl Simmons, he looks to have some talent and proved it by getting 70 in Pakistan. Surprising they picked Pollard over someone like W.Hinds or possibly Emrit who gained some ODI experience in India. Pollard does have an extremely good domestic record at such a young age.

I think they could of gone with Dave Mohammed instead of someone like Dwayne Smith or Powell, as the conditions are likely to help spinners.

Yea, they should have gone with Dave Mohammed. But still a good squad.
Now all the squads have been announced I believe? All look rather good and capable of winning on their day. Should make for a rather good World Cup...
