Maroons compensate for big Amla by bagging Karthik for base.
Brushing away the wicketkeeper blues, Maroons have signed up Dinesh Karthik of Indian origin for a mere $20,000, which can be regarded as one of the lowest base prices for a player in the WPL glitterati. Karthik is a potential fifty-over batsman and has done in the other big T20 league - IPL, which boosts his chances of performing in a T30 competition. Plus Maroons have also compensated for the loss of 2.8 Million dollars on Amla, another star player who is to join Maroons soon. "Karthik will be an asset to a team, it is highly prospective that he'll do more than his brand value, unlike players like Dhoni, etc. who earn the biggest bucks yet are vulnerable to failure at big stage." Varun, the CEO, coach, manager and everything of Maroons quoted.

At the WPL-6 auctions under process, Diamonds acquire Morne Van Wyk (SA), Peter Siddle (AUS) and Nathan Bracken (AUS) in Rounds 1,4 and 5 respectively. Akshay Anand, the manager of Diamonds seemed to be happy with the proceedings till now. He said that Van Wyk is a young lightning of World Cricket who was available at a mere base price was a lucky buy. Siddle and Bracken, however strengthen the bowling Department.
Its my pleasure to announce that the left arm pacer, Isuru Udana is back with the Rapid Reds. He has been an integral part of our bowling attack. Way too under-rated, or maybe even the most under-rated in the WPL, Udana begun his WPL journey with the Reds only. Surprisingly for the other teams and not surprising for me, he turned out to be amazing, creating threats in the camp of each side. Getting him back for a base price of just $20,000 is certainly the best deal so far. It almost makes me feel as if I got a quality player for free.
WPL Highlights: Two 6 wickets hauls and one 5 wickets haul.
