Who will win the second Twenty20 World Championship?

58/2 is an okay score, they have wickets in hand so should really look to kick on in the second half of the innings and when Ireland come to bowl they should be weary of Ten Doeschate! As for Australia Symo looks to be doing a good job, and the game might already be over.

11th OVER: Ireland 67/2
Ireland start to get a move on here at Lord?s. Botha smashes ten Doeschate over mid wicket for four off the third ball of the over to boost the run rate. The final three balls go for four runs, including a wide, as Ireland start to build a solid platform.

12th OVER: Ireland 77/2
10 runs from the 12th over and it?s thanks to Botha?s boundary hitting ability. He hits a scintillating cover drive to the fence off the final ball to push Ireland?s scoring rate higher and higher.

13th OVER: Ireland 79/2
Tidy over from ten Doeschate slows the scoring rate somewhat. Ireland have wickets in hand are in the better position. But we all know a few wickets can change everything.

14th OVER: Ireland 81/2
Only another two runs from the 14th over as well. The Netherlands are starting to pull it back in these middle overs. Very good bowling from Borren and ten Doeschate here.

15th OVER: Ireland 87/3 ? Wicket: A.Botha lbw b. R. ten Doeschate 23 (21)
the pressure tells as Netherlands pick up their third wicket, this time the dangerous Andre Botha. Having been bogged down in the last few overs Botha goes for the big slog sweep but misses and the ball wraps him plumb in front. Excellent bowling by ten Doeschate.

TRENT BRIDGE UPDATE: Australia 121/7
Bangladesh have really clawed things back at Trent Bridge. Two wickets in two balls after the drinks break slowed things down. First, Symonds was bowled by Naeem Islam for 48 before Ponting was run out going back for a second run from Clarke?s first ball. In the very next over Clarke chipped the ball straight to cover where Ashraful took a good low catch. David Hussey hit 3 boundaries before becoming the third batsmen to be run out, this time after going to the third umpire. Mike Hussey then lofted the ball straight down long on?s throat to leave Australia seven down. Brett Lee came to the crease and immediately put the pressure back on Bangladesh by smashing a big six over extra cover.

16th OVER: Ireland 92/3
Just five runs scored off that over. Both players rotate the strike well without finding the boundary and yet another wide gives Ireland an extra ball and an extra run. Still a very good over from Borren, though.

17th OVER: Ireland 100/3
The first three balls go for just one run before O?brien launches Reekers all the way for six down the ground. A superb shot from Kevin who is without his brother for this game. Another single is scored off the final ball as Ireland bring up the 100.

TRENT BRIDGE UPDATE: Australia 132/10
Well who would?ve thought it? Australia have been bowled out in the 17th over for just 132. Mashrafe Mortaza took two wickets in two to leave Australia 9 down. After a quick bit of good old fashioned slogging from Siddle and Johnson, Bangladesh took the final wicket with the score at just 132. Can Bangladesh win this? If Tamim Iqbal gets going I wouldn?t be surprised if it was over in 10 overs. That guy can really bat!

18th OVER: Ireland 114/3
Now Ireland start to move into fifth gear. O?Brien smashes the first two balls to the fence before a couple of twos and a couple of singles from the rest of the over. Two overs left for Ireland. How man can they get?

19th OVER: Ireland 132/4 ? Wicket: P.Stirling lbw b. T. de Grooth 39 (44)
Another wicket down but another huge over for Ireland. Stirling hit a six before going for another and being trapped lbw. Who needs to take time to get in anymore? Wilson hits 2 twos before finishing off the over with successive boundaries. Just the one over left now.

20th OVER: Ireland 152/4
Ireland have ended on a real high as they pass 150 off the final ball. O?Brien hit Reekers for a big, big six over square leg and then hit a four straight down the ground. Wilson?s final ball four, combined with two wides, gives Ireland 20 from the over and a very defendable target of 152.

Aussies were disappointing to say the least.132 is never gonna be enough especially if Bangladeshi top order fires. And Ireland have impressed one and all after they put on 152.Good writing treva.I'll be following this one.

Wow, what a terrible performance from Australia in the end but you have to give full credit to Bangladesh for clawing that back! And for Ireland they really got a shift on after the 17th over! Still think Ireland will beat the dutch but not sure in the Aus Bangla game!

Second Innings

1st OVER: Netherlands 8/0
Solid start from the Netherlands. Kervezee crashes his first ball to the point fence before a few more singles push Netherlands to 8 from the first over. Rankin?s height should help him but he needs to bowl a much better length than that.

2nd OVER: Netherlands 16/1 ? Wicket: Reekers c. K.McCallan b. R.West 6 (4)
Another good over runs wise but Ireland pick up the wicket of Reekers who skies a pull shot to McCallan at square leg. Zuiderant hits two from his first ball and steals the strike from the final ball of the over.

3rd OVER: Netherlands 20/1
Just four runs from the over as Rankin improves his line and length greatly. Kervezee is itching to hoik one over mid wicket, but for now he settles with a couple of singles.

4th OVER: Netherlands 32/1
An expensive over from West who concedes a run off every ball of the over. Zuiderent drills a four through point before snatching a pair of twos on either side of the wicket.

5th OVER: Netherlands 45/1
Netherlands are really hitting the ball well at the moment, in particular Zuiderent, who picks up another four. After three byes and some more good running from the pair they reach 45/1 after five overs. That?s 18 runs ahead of Ireland at the same stage.

TRENT BRIDGE UPDATE: Bangladesh 22/2
Did I say Tamim Iqbal could back? Clearly not. After seven balls and just one run he departed drilling Siddle straight at, guess who, Symonds in the covers. Ashraful didn?t need me giving him the ?commentator?s curse? on him as he crashed his very first ball straight back at Siddle who held on. Siddle didn?t pick up the hat trick and was not best pleased when Shakib Al Hasan deposited him over cover for six. Since then Bangladesh have found it hard to score. Al Hasan creamed a glorious straight drive to end the fifth over and push Bangladesh above a rate of four runs an over. Australia back on top for the moment.

6th OVER: Netherlands 58/1
Kervezee finally unleashes by flat batting West through the off side for four. He then follows it up with a clever uppercut over the keeper for four more. A couple of quick singles end an expensive over from West who has gone at 11 runs an over from three.

7th OVER: Netherlands 65/1
A fairly quiet over considering the flash shots we have seen here today. Four singles from the first five balls followed by a scampered two gives us all a breather, except the batsmen.

8th OVER: Netherlands 72/2 ? Wicket: B.Zuiderent b. R.West 25 (19)
Surprisingly West is given a fourth and final over. It proves a good decision as he dismisses Zuiderent with the first ball of the over. Szwarczynski comes in and edges past Wilson for four. Netherlands still on top but that wicket may drag the run rate down a little.

9th OVER: Netherlands 76/2
I was right. The least scoring over since the third sees just four runs off it. Controlled bowling from Botha.

10th OVER: Netherlands 86/2
The final over before drinks is a big-?un. McCallan?s spin is introduced and quickly dispatched for back-to-back fours by an in form Kervezee. Ireland were on just 58/2 at the same point, a mere 28 runs behind. Seeing as I am a betting man I would put a fair amount on Netherlands on winning this.

TRENT BRIDGE UPDATE: Bangladesh 76/4
Forget Iqbal, my new favourite is Siddique. First he drills Hopes for four wide of mid off and then dispatches him way into the clouds for six off a free hit. Next he rocks onto the back foot and lifts it over mid on for yet another boundary. Finally he smashes a slower ball for four through midwicket off the back foot to end an expensive first over for Hopes. Brett Lee?s pace and the end of the fielding restrictions mean nothing to Al Hasan who pulls Lee for a huge six only to run his partner out after an overthrow. Al Hasan, who obviously likes Lee, smashes him for another four before being run out in the most unlucky way possible. Hasan drills the ball back at Lee and the ball seems to be going down the ground. Lee?s boot forces the ball into the hands of the mid-off fielder who throws down the stumps and runs Hasan out by the closest of margins. Remarkably the fifth run out of the game. Raqibul Hasan is treated to a full toss by Hopes and duly accepts his proposition by slapping him into the leg side for six to get off the mark. Hopes serves him up yet another full toss a few balls later and gets the same treatment, this time on the off side. Time for some spin, but it makes no difference, as Hasan helps himself to another four. Unbelievably Hopes is brought back, and even more unbelievably Mahmudullah blocks all six balls to hand Hopes an underserved maiden. Bangladesh need 57 from 60 balls.

Shakib Al Hasan hits one of his two fours

Well well well, my predictions are looking very wrong! The dutch and bangla both in strong positions at the moment! Australia were in a similar position at the same stage as Bangladesh though and look what happened to them. Both games are very tight at the half way stage though!

Nice start mate. Good writing and presentation.
Netherlands should get home, but the AUS - BNG game is going to be close.

11th OVER: Netherlands 89/2
A very tight over from Botha leaks just three runs. Kervezee is the key to this game I feel. If Ireland get him out then they could well win this, but if they don’t then the Netherlands should cruise to victory.

12th OVER: Netherlands 93/3 – Wicket: Szwarczynski b. K.McCallan 9 (12)
Ireland tighten the screws once more and it buys a wicket. McCallan’s offies are getting a bit of purchase and he manages to squeeze the ball between bat and pad and onto the leg stump. Questionable the best of the Dutch batsmen, Ryan ten Doeschate, comes to the crease and blocks his first two deliveries.

13th OVER: Netherlands 100/3 – Fifty: A.Kervezee 52* (40)*
Kervezee picks up three twos from the over to push his score past the fifty mark. He raises his bat to acknowledge the ripple of hands in the crowd. The Netherlands need 53 runs to win at 7.57 runs per over.

14th OVER: Netherlands 113/3
McCallan gets the treatment for bowling a couple of bad deliveries as Kervezee ups his game once more. First he rocks back and cuts a short ball to the point boundary for four before crashing a slog sweep for six off a a low full toss from McCallan. That has knocked the required run rate right down.

15th OVER: Netherlands 117/3
Botha regains some control and finishes his four overs with 0 for 18. Botha has had a very good day but he may well end up on the losing side. The Netherlands inch closer, just 36 away now.

TRENT BRIDGE UPDATE: Bangladesh 109/9
Events at ‘The Bridge’ take yet another twist. Raqibul Hasan started the 11th over with a bang hitting a two and two fours off David Hussey, all behind the wicket. But his confidence got the better of him as he looks to smash a huge six down the ground. The wind holds it up a little and Clarke takes a good catch at long off to send him packing for 28. Mushfiqur Rahim makes a hash of his first ball and is beaten through the gate as he becomes the third player to be dismissed for a golden duck in the game. Mahmudullah, for some reason, continues to block before finally hitting a leg glance in anger for four. Mortaza then gets dropped at fine leg only to be run out by the throw. You would think Bangladesh might just slow things down a little but the new man, Naeem Islam, sends the ball high in the air only for Hussey to see another chance put down at deep mid wicket. Brett Lee is brought back and immediately makes the breakthrough as Mahmudullah cuts down to third man where Watson makes no mistake. Someone needs to tell the Bangladeshi batsmen that they are ahead of the run rate as Rubel Hossain hits it straight to Symonds in the deep to leave Australia on the brink of victory. The final pair pick up eight runs off the 15th over to leave them just 24 short of victory but with no wickets to play with.

16th OVER: Netherlands 122/3
Ten Doeschate continues to plod along and allow Kervezee to hit out. He obliges by driving McCallan against the spin to the fence. McCallan ends with figures of 1 for 29. A wicket but a little bit too expensive.

17th OVER: Netherlands 137/4 – Wicket: R.ten Doeschate c. A.Botha b. T.Johnston 12 (13)
Ireland bag their fourth wicket but it is another expensive over that may just prove to be the game winner. Ten Doeschate hits two consecutive fours through the leg side before he is well caught by Botha at mid wicket, who can’t put a foot wrong today. Van Bunge shows his intentions early as he advances down the wicket first ball and sends it over long on for six. Just 16 to win from 18 balls.

18th OVER: Netherlands 151/4
And that’s the final nail in Ireland’s coffin. O’Brien comes on to bowl his first over and is treated to some cracking shots from Kervezee. First Kervezee whacks O’Brien over long on before he steps right across his stumps and lofts the ball into the crowd over fine leg. 14 from the over and they are home and dry.

19th OVER: Netherlands 153/5 – Wicket: A.Kervezee c. J.Bray b. T.Johnston 83 (57)
Well Kervezee will be disappointed to get out needing just two to win but he’ll be happy with his match winning knock. Bray took the catch in the deep but it mattered little but it asks the question as to why Johnston didn’t bowl earlier with two wickets in 9 balls. An excellent display from the Netherlands puts them in a good position going into their tournament opener with England on Friday.

TRENT BRIDGE UPDATE: Bangladesh 122/9
A strange game at Trent Bridge has ended. Islam and Rasel, sensibly, decided to calm things down and started to pick up the singles here and there. The scoring rate dropped dramatically leaving 20 runs to be scored from the final three overs. A tight return from Johnson meant 16 needed from 12, but a vital no ball from Siddle gave Islam a free hit with 14 to win. Luckily Islam’s edge found the slip fielder on the bounce to stop a crucial boundary. Brilliant bowling and poor shot selection saw Siddle bowl four dot balls in a row to leave Bangladesh with just one over to score 14 runs. Unbelievable Mitchell Johnson oversteps twice but once again neither of the two batsmen can put them away. Thankfully for Australia Johnson gave away little from the final few balls to hand his side a very peculiar win over Bangladesh.

So, both the Netherlands and Australia have won in some interesting cricket matches, and there is still more to come. I will bring you live over-by-over updates from the game between India and New Zealand as well as five over updates from the second game at Trent Bridge between Pakistan and South Africa.

Netherlands 153/5 beat Ireland 152/4 by 5 wickets
Australia 132/10 beat Bangladesh 122/9 by 10 runs

Good win by the Netherlands, and OZ done well to contain BNG to just 122.
I'm looking forward to NZ's 1st practice game.
Keep up the good work.

17:30 PM | Well we've had some exciting as well as strange cricket over the first three hours and we have some more for you. Sky Sports are showing both the games live, but if you are unable to view Sky, or actually prefer reading my thoughts (Highly doubtful), then join me for the second round of today's warm up games.

I will be bringing you over-by-over updates from Lord's and bring you the latest going-ons at Trent Bridge. Let's take a look at the teams from our game, New Zealand and India.

New Zealand: B.McCullum+, J.Ryder, M.Guptil, R.Taylor, J.Oram, S.Styris, N.McCullum, J.Franklin, D.Vettori*, I.Butler, I.O'Brien.

India: G.Gambhir, R.Sharma, MS.Dhoni*+, S.Raina, R.Jadeja, Y.Pathan, I.Pathan, H.Singh, P.Ojha, RP.Singh, I.Sharma.

Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first, so it'll be India setting a target. Ireland couldn't defend 152, and I think India will be looking at 180 on this surface.

1st OVER: India 13/0
India start off their innings confidently thanks to two lovely boundaries from Rohit Sharma. First he cuts off the back foot for four before he plays with a straight bat down the ground. A poor start from Butler.

2nd OVER: India 15/0
James Franklin causes the Indian openers some trouble bowling his left arm medium fast from over the wicket. He beats the bat on two occasions and only concedes two runs. A contrasting over to that of Butler’s.

3rd OVER: India 27/0
Sharma makes it 4 fours in a row off Butler with two fours at the beginning of the over. The openers seem to be on the same page as they exchange quick singles making it 12 from the over. Strong start by Gambhir and Sharma, not so for Butler.

4th OVER: India 42/1 – Wicket: Sharma b. J.Franklin 19 (14)
A big over from India but they lose their first wicket. Gambhir begins the over with a swipe off the back foot that lands a few rows back and quickly follows it up with a drive through the off side for four. Franklin pulls himself together and gets the ball to swing back into Sharma knocking his left peg back. Dhoni needs no introduction as he tickles the ball down to fine leg for another boundary.

5th OVER: India 55/1
Butler continues to bowl and continues to bowl badly. Both Gambhir and Dhoni put him away for fours during the over which once again doesn’t see a dot ball. That’s now 16 balls bowled since Butler’s last dot ball.

TRENT BRIDGE UPDATE: Pakistan 45/0
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat at ‘The Bridge’ and have started excellently. Dale Steyn started off with a neat over before Faisal Iqbal and Salman Butt decided to free their arms during Albie Morkel’s first over, Butt dispatching him over cover for six from the fourth ball. Steyn’s pace and control stopped Pakistan’s barrage by conceding just a single from his second over. Trusted with another over, Morkel again took a pounding courtesy of 4 fours from Iqbal to relieve the pressure. Jacques Kallis came on to replace a surprised Steyn and was greated by a glorious cover drive by Butt. Another lofted boundary ended Kallis’ over to leave Pakistan in control at 45/0.

6th OVER: India 65/1
Franklin is kept on and milked for 9 runs from the first four balls, including a swat over extra cover for four by the Indian skipper. Franklin finds the edge but Dhoni has luck on his side as it drops just short of the lone slip fielder and squirms away for a single.

7th OVER: India 73/1
Jesse Ryder replaces the expensive Butler and dispite a good over is punished for bowling a knee high full toss with fine leg up. Eight more off the over and India continue to rocket along at over 10 runs an over.

8th OVER: India 85/1
Franklin bowls through but concedes 12 runs from his final over. Dhoni steps across his stumps and plants the ball for a one bounce four over mid wicket. The final ball of his spell clattered into the advertising hoardings as well, this time Gambhir breaking the leg side in field.

9th OVER: India 93/2 – Wicket: Gambhir b. J.Ryder 38 (24)
Ryder gets the much needed breakthrough for New Zealand and it is the opener Gambhir who perishes from the final ball of the over. Dhoni smashes the ball wide of the cover sweeper for four early in the over but Ryder manages to get one to nip back a little and Gambhir chops the ball onto his own stumps. A fine knock by Gambhir, he’s gotten his team off to a flier.

10th OVER: India 105/2
The wicket doesn’t stop the flow of runs as India reach the half way point with a run rate of over 10. Vettori brings himself and bowls four good balls, unfortunately the other two are swatted away for a six and a four by his opposing number. 200 is a real possibility here if the Indian batsmen, and particular Dhoni, continue to smash the ball all over Lord’s.

TRENT BRIDGE UPDATE: Pakistan 99/3
Pakistan are really showing their talent with the bat. Wayne Parnell replaced the expensive Morkel and cost himself a wicket with a no ball. The free hit saw Iqbal hit the ball straight to mid on, however, it didn’t cost anything as Butt chipped a straight drive straight back to him the very next ball. Akmal settle comfortably as they rotated the strike through Kallis’ over but disaster for Pakistan as, unbelievably, Iqbal chipped the ball straight back to Kallis in identical style to Butt’s dismissal. Khan was greeted with a no ball that he drove for four before hooking the free hit for one bounce and over the rope. A second free hit allowed Khan to loft the ball over mid off for his third four in the over. Spin was introduced with immediate success as Botha’s second ball was chipped to short fine leg by Khan to bring up Pakistan’s third wicket in as many overs. Parnell’s trouble with his run up saw yet another free hit dispatched to the boundary, this time by new batsman Misbah Ul-Haq. After a few more singles Pakistan ended the 10th over on 99/3 and firmly on top.

India might be looking at 200+ at the moment where as Pakistan look to be getting close.

Indians have got a solid start.NZ would be relieved as they took the wicket of 'set' Gambhir in the 9th over.Still wickets needed for them to make a comeback here.Pakistan on the other hand also have got a good start.Would be interesting to see if they can capitalize on it.

11th OVER: India 112/3 – Wicket: MS.Dhoni lbw b. J.Ryder 44 (23)
Ryder does the trick again after the drinks break. Dhoni bags a couple into the leg side from the fourth ball of the over but is trapped lbw the very next ball. The next batsman is Jadeja who comes out and gets an inside edge. With fine leg up it runs away for four, but an important breakthrough from Ryder who now has two wickets to his name.

12th OVER: India 118/4 – Wicket: R.Jadeja b. S.Styris 8 (4)
Vettori pulls himself off having noted that medium pace is the way to go on this wicket. It proves to be an excellent decision as Jadeja is sent packing for just eight. Jadeja smashed the ball to the square leg boundary for his second four but misses a straight delivery two balls later to the delight of the Styris and the New Zealand team. They are clawing their way back into this game.

13th OVER: India 125/4
No wicket for Ryder in his final over, but he bowls well until the final ball. Raina has taken a while to settle but doesn’t miss out on a poorly executed slower ball and drills it back past the bowler, almost taking out the umpire in the process. Seven from the over and Ryder ends with 2 for 30. A vital spell from the big man has caused the Indian innings to slow a little.

14th OVER: India 129/4
Tight is the word, very tight. Styris concedes just the four runs as Yusuf Pathan looks to get to grips with the conditions. Medium pace is pulling the game back for New Zealand in these middle overs.

15th OVER: India 135/4
Vettori returns to the attack and has a mixed bag of an over. He starts with three dot balls before Raina has enough and charges down the wicket and plants him wide of long on for four. Vettori bowls another dot ball before Raina picks up two to end the over. The run rate has droped significantly since Dhoni’s dismissal and 200 doesn’t look so easy.

TRENT BRIDGE UPDATE: Pakistan 153/4
Pakistan press on in the other game. Both Akmal and Misbah are enjoying the freedom to nurdle around before going for one big shot an over to keep up this excellent run rate. Botha pays for bowling a full toss as Akmal dances down the track and lifts into the empty space on the offside for four. A ball later and Botha thinks he has his man only to see Boucher make a rare mistake putting down the catch standing up to the stumps. Runs continue to flow easily for the pair as they milk Parnell for 9 runs off his final over without playing a shot in anger. Then comes a pivotal moment in the innings as Misbah calls Akmal for a tight single only to watch Gibbs pick up and throw down the stumps in one movement to leave him short of the ground having made 19. Gibbs then turns from hero to villain as his enthusiasm to throw down the stumps results in four overthrows. The final two balls of the 15th over see Malik first launch the ball down the ground for four before he deposits the final ball of the over point for six with a quick dance down the track. Look out, 200 could definitely be on the cards in Nottingham.

16th OVER: India 140/4
Styris continues from the Nursery End and only allows the Indian pair to pick up five runs. He has now gone 15 balls without conceding a single boundary and has superb figures of 1 for 15 from three overs.

17th OVER: India 145/4
Vettori makes another switch and brings on Iain O’Brien on for his first over of the game. Yet another cracking over by New Zealand and no sign of Pathan or Raina teeing off at the back end of this innings.

18th OVER: India 154/4
Styris is surprisingly taken out of the attack for Jacob Oram. New Zealand will be happy if 9 runs is all India get from the final two overs, but it is the highest scoring over since the 10th! Two overs remain.

19th OVER: India 158/5 – Wicket: Y.Pathan c. I.Butler b. I.O’Brien 22 (25)
Superb from O’Brien. Just four runs from the over and he removes Yusuf Pathan for 22, caught in the deep by Butler. New Zealand have made a fantastic recovery from India racing along at 105/2 after 10 overs to 158/5 with one over to go.

20th OVER: India 163/6 – Wicket: I.Pathan c. S.Styris b. J.Oram 5 (8)
There is no big end for India has Pathan faces all six balls of the final over and is dismissed from the final ball. New Zealand have given themselves an excellent chance to win this game under the lights of Lord’s, but it is still a competitive score by India. They’ll be disappointed after that blistering first 10 overs, though.

TRENT BRIDGE UPDATE: Pakistan 206/5
Pakistan set South Africa a whopping 207 to win. Malik started the last five overs how he ended the first five with an array of cracking shots, this time to the leg side. Akmal joins in the boundary fun as he slaps away an Albie Morkel bouncer. Steyn is brought back for the final few overs and roughs Malik up with a few bouncers. Malik counter attacks as soon as Steyn pitches the ball up by hitting the first boundary off Steyn’s bowling over mid off. After two clever slower balls from Morkel Malik finally puts him away over mid on and a ball later is given his fifty after a drop catch by a diving Steyn. The final over belonged to Malik and Akmal as they hit a four and six, and despite the loss of Akmal for 40 from the penultimate ball, Pakistan finished with a huge total of 206/5. South Africa certainly have the ability to chase it down but applying themselves is a different matter.

India will be disappointed with how they finished that game with just around 50 from the last 10. Where as Pakistan on the other hand batted very well in the second half of the innings, but South Africa have an awesome batting line up so it could very well be chaseable.
