Since they've binned the soft signal, I think what you're going to see is lots of batters standing their ground so it forces a third umpire review. That will lead to more confusion for spectators and TV viewers and a lot of decisions that probably favour the batters.

The soft signal did not make sense though.
And if you can’t judge beyond doubt that a catch's clean, it makes sense to not give it out. A wrongly given out batter doesn’t get any second chances, but the bowlers get plenty of chances to dismiss him again
