I am not blaming the IPL. I am simply saying that how can you expect to come in at 100% after coming straight from such a hectic IPL schedule on completely different pitches?

I would have at least scheduled a game against the likes of Ireland or so, just to give some match practice before a WTC final.
correct

Two days of smashing it, six hitting contest and a few rounds of golf is all you need.

444... hmm...
Dear IND, come hard. Smash few.. get folded by today within 200.. and give yourself and spectators to chill and relax on a Sunday :p

India to get all out today?
Yes! Let's go boys :p... You're special... You're destined to achieve special humiliation. Why play piss poor test... Rather go out to chill on a Sunday in London

An extra test would have been nice for sure but when do you have that scheduled and against whom? Ireland already had one test against England booked between the IPL final and the WTC final so they wouldn’t have played. Counties are all busy with the Blast at the moment. You could have played one three day match at best (the IPL final ended on May 29 which gives around eight days of break and you’d probably want three days before the final clear and two days after the final clear too) against a second string county side with a few FC specialists but again this doesn’t seem like a thing most teams are willing to do,

Australia had not scheduled anything of this sort despite having an Ashes coming up and did not do anything similar when they came over to India and several of their players were participating in the BBL instead. Had it not been for one session of brainfade sweeping they would have been the first team to win a series in India in a decade. From what I’ve heard teams aren’t willing to do practice games provided by the host against second string sides because they are seldom representative of actual playing conditions in the real tests.

And as you’ve mentioned Pujara was playing county cricket for two months in similar conditions yet got dismissed misjudging the line of a delivery. Out of the standout performers for India so far, two played in the IPL final and one had constant fitness struggles throughout the IPL and was used in a new, weird role. People are reading too much into the “India bad, IPL bad” theory when the simpler answer is that this Aussie side is better than the Indian one missing Bumrah and Pant in pace friendly conditions.

The one criticism that this Aussie side deserves is their lack of creativity in the tactical department since the Paine days. They don’t seem to have an idea of what to do when Plan A fails and they have to adapt to an opponent putting them under pressure other than try to get their bowlers go for a mix of accurate length balls and a risky wonderball attempt per over which works when you have a world class attack like they do but it also means you leave yourself exposed against batters hell bent on attacking and taking you down. I think this can only solved by either changing the captain or coach and given Pat’s impact and other good leadership qualities I do believe McDonald may have to be the one axed, he doesn’t really strike me as a coach who goes beyond ‘trust the boys and let them do their magic’.

First noob goes to pavilion here comes the collapse India will be folded back and packing their bags to home tonight
