I love watching test matches that are played anywhere but Asia. The grass, the atmosphere, the crowd, there is something about it.

It's nice seeing two top teams where neither has a distinct advantage. I think English conditions and the Dukes ball is a great leveller.

Sun out at the Oval is generally a batters paradise.

Like DutchSomePosts says: sun out and things lean towards the batters. The first hour I think India would've been disappointed not to get a second wicket. I might have tried Thakur earlier in that first hour.

There's always going to be something for the bowler but the pitch definitely looks decent enough for batting. English weather can fool captains sometimes, particularly overseas ones, you might get an hour of perfect conditions and the sun comes and batting becomes much easier.
