World Test Team

Hayden
Vaughan
Ponting
Tendulkar
Pietersen
Sangakkara
Kallis
Lee
Steyn
Sidebottom
Muralitharan

There's no real role each batsman performs for each position in there, seeing as Kallis and Sangakkara are batting so low down the order. That's my problem with this batting lineup.

Kumble is a better test match bowler than Murli?? How so? If you don't mind explaining that.
and having Kartik in over Sanga and Dhoni?? and he hasn't played a test since the Pak series.

Kumble toils in the tough overs. 30-40 overs in an innings, he's resilient and dogged. His batting is good enough to be considered as an allrounder as well.
Plus, he's been in better form through recent months.

Like i've said Karthik hasn't been given adequate chances because of various reasons. Sanga is in the team, just not as a keeper for the reasons Manee has already stated.

He can't even make the International team.

I've seen him drop some incrediably easy catches.

You're picking him over 2 guys who have made scores of 250+ in Test Cricket in Smith & Sehwag who both average close to 50.

The only reason that he's not making it (in my view) is because Dhoni is the skipper/ vice captain. He's afraid of competition, I know i'll get flamed for this but it's the truth. I have too seen him drop catches but i've seen him take some purely spectacular ones as well. he's a fantastic fielder and is probably on par if not better then Dhoni with the gloves. He's opening the batting and wicketkeeping which is essentially killing two birds with one stone, allowing Sanga's awesome brilliance with the bat when not donning the gloves.
Karthik is young and a fighter. If you look at how he played in England and South Africa you know how much of an awesome cricketer he can be. He had ONE bad series against Pakistan. He scored 97 in the tour match against whatever team we played in Australia and STILL got overlooked, even when the Dravid - Jaffer combo failed over and over and over and over again.

Test team:

1.Matthew Hayden
2.Graeme Smith
3.Jacques Kallis
4.Mahela Jayawardena
5.Kumar Sangakkara (WK)
6.Ricky Ponting
7.Daniel Vettori
8.Brett Lee
9.Dale Steyn
10.Ryan Sidebottom
11.Muttiah Muralitharan

I added vettori at 6 because he is a quick lower order scorer , and his batting has been on form, ( which is needed in a slow scoring side ) and he can be usefull with the ball.
Jacques Kallis is up the order because he is a slow scorer and so Sangakkara who also scores fairly slow , Ricky Ponting at 5 has the ideal batting pace for that position , its a low batting order but what are the chances that none of those batsman will perform.

You. Me. Cricket 2007. With our teams against each other.

:p

No but I really doubt you can go far with Vaughn opening :laugh

Not Ishant. He just isnt good enough an average of 45 says it all.
He's played five tests. He's so very promising, just take a look at what he did in Australia and you wouldn't belive he had an average in the 40's. Give him a break.

Yeah, but to say his the 2nd best opener in the world is stupid. Especially with a first-class average of 35.

Realistically, I think Cricketman realizes that as well. However, like me, he is a massive fan of Dinesh Karthik; not selecting him would mean him betraying Dinesh Karthik.

lol Chris Gayle and Jerome Taylor are my favorite players and i didn't even put them in my squad. and Gayle>>Karthik on any day.

And Murli doesn't toil in the tough overs? come one man not having Murli in the current Test squad is crazy. Kumble is obviously a great spinner but not as good as Murli is.
and Karthik got his chances against Pakistan and hew blew them.

You pick enough Indian players there Manee ? Also, Pietersen, Sangakkara, Tendulkar and Ponting to name a few are all much worthier of being in a world team as opposed to Laxman and Dravid. Hayden's better than Cook aswell. Also, Steyn, Lee, and Asif are far better than Rp Singh and Sharma. Very strange choices there Manee. Shows that you watch far more Indian cricket than other countries as some of those choices are ludicrous considering the other performing players in world cricket.

edit: Woops, only just realised you were trying to make a better team than Griffo. You failed.
