World Test Team

lol care to tell the name of the bowler(s) who do make teams lose sleep then? As far as I'm concerned Dale Steyn is the only bowler no one would want to face in any conditions. Apart from that no batsman cares what they face in all honesty.

Zak's stats vs SA earlier this year

This is without bowling in the second innings of the second test (would have bettered his stats if he did bowl).

And these are Zak's overall stats in 2010

Zak is definitely one of the best bowlers because he can do well even when the conditions are not in his favour.

Since his comeback Asif has had the opportunity of bowling in NZ, AUS and ENG conditions. Wait till he gets to places like SL and IND and then lets see how he does (same goes for Aamer).

He shown in the past that he can bowl in any sort of pitch and like McGrath he has a ability to bowl at on channel constantly which make him so successful over the years. If you had a good cricketing memory then you should know about his bowling in Srilanka back in 2006.

^Zaheer has shown in the past that he is pretty dangerous, he has been the most crucial factor in bowling department for India in the journey to no.1.

Don't just forget that Zaheer has taken wickets at subcontinent pitches and Asif hasn't played on them since a long time.

Asif too has taken wickets in subcontinent.
  • Asif has got 8 wickets with an average of 28 against India while Zaheer got 17 against Pakistan in with an average of 47.
  • Asif got 17 wickets against Srilanka with a great average of 10.76 while Zaheer got 28 wickets at an average of 38.71.
  • Asif has got 24 wickets against Australia at an average of 29 while Zaheer got 34 at an average of 42.
  • Asif got 11 wickets against England at an average of 24.36 while Zaheer got 37 at an average of 27.48
  • Asif has an overall average of 23.12 in 22 test matches while Zaheer has an overall average of 32.98 in 72 matches.
  • If we compare both on first 22 test matches Asif has got 100 wickets while Zaheer was on 64.
If a player was good for India it doesn't mean he should be in world XI. Main reason is India was short of good quality bowlers and he was the only bowler who was a bit consistent.

^I'm not comparing whole careers, Zaheer was surely not good before as he is now. Asif has been consistent no doubt, but Zaheer just turned to be one of best bowlers in past two years.

He has a better temperament than Asif has, he has more experience and surely not being accused taking drugs.

I have given you both players performance against all big teams except South Africa and in all encounters Asif has dominated by miles.

If you compare Zaheer's last 22 matches he got 81 wickets.

Mohammad Asif, although a decent bowler, can't be compared to. The moron's been tested positive for steroids twice and is still in the international arena for some reason.

It's like trying to compare someone who's taken a test after studying hard to someone who cheated on the day, got caught, and got away with it because he has connections.

lame excuse!
Compare their game not their personnel life. I feel very annoying how people start criticizing a player's personnel life when they don't have any genuine reasons to rate a player's game.:facepalm

If steroids actually made a difference to his game then he would have been bowling at 100 MPH.

@killer7xx I like your both lineups especially inclusion of Sakib as a spinner. He is surely best spinner in Asia at the moment.
Well in ROW, I guess their pace attack is weak, you should include on spinner from Vettori or Swann and instead include a genuine pacemen.

For Christ's sake please drop the comparison between Zaheer Khan and Mohammed Asif, everyone knows Asifs a better bowler.

This ^

Asif is a million times the bowler Khan will ever be, very lame excuse indeed.

When did steroids become attacking a player's personal life? They're performance enhancers, clearly it's not their personal life. :doh

um, have you compared their ODI performances? Asif doesn't come close to touching Khan. And Asif is just 20 tests old.

Asia XI

Virender Sehwag
Tamim Iqbal
Kumar Sangakkara *
Sachin Tendulkar
Mahela Jayawardene
Thilan Samaraweera
MS Dhoni+
Shakib al Hasan
Mohammad Aamer
Lasith Malinga
Mohammad Asif

Find it a bit hard to include Aamer in a subcontinent XI because he hasn't played in the subcontinent but there is no doubt that he is good and can reverse the ball which helps in the subcontinent.

Rest of World XI would mostly be South African with a couple of English players and a couple of Aussies.
