Trescothick's game is based on a good eye, great timing, and self belief. They are much more important than technique and footwork. Look at Hich and Ramps - technically excellent, but neither flourished in tests as Trescothick has done.

Nop,

Trescothick have minimum footwork therefore it will not be easy for him playing Shoaib Akhtar,If you want to succed againts fast bowlers you have to have good footwork same goes with spinners,

Trescothick will fail misreably againts Pakistan,

how can you say that?

Lee has been bowling faster than akhtar recently, akhtars injuries have put his pace down. And we all know what happened to lee at times this summer.

Look dude i know Akhtar is good but if McGrath could not get him early after he first test then u should know this man is not here to kid around. He is a very good batsman because over the years he has proved himself worthy of being in the England roster. The english team is the only team that can defeat Australia. U can see what Shoiab being fast and not accurate is getting in the super series.

u r totally pathedic u ppl that have voted trescothik and strauss jeez wake up losers

You English fans should understand that the conditions will be different in Pakistan,

Strauss and Trescothick should not even be included in that poll leave alone being picked as the best opening pairs?

Because Akhtar has bowled really well lately.
Lee has bowled faster.

Accuracy>Pace, he'll struggle more vs naved than Shoaib.

Greenidge/Haynes.

C G Greenidge & D L Haynes 1978-1991 148 innings, 6522 runs @ 44.07
J L Langer & M L Hayden 2001-2005 91 innings, 4903 runs @ 53.88

The Windians played far tougher opposition than the Aussies.

Also, you would put Simpson/Lawry ahead of Strauss/Trescothick. Hobbs/Sutcliffe is probably England's best opening pair.

as aktar showed in australia. all you have to do to play him is keep him out until he looses interest and decides he wants to sit in the dressing room instead of playing for his country. as for the spinners. you may be right. but tresco played warne pretty well in the ashes and the pakistanis do have a shade on warne when it comes to bowling
