Wrestling thread

Too right they're not very up to date. Still no sign of the news about these releases!

WWE is a complete wast of time..it's just entertainment...they got to show real and exclusive wrestling...

I posted this in the movie thread, but might as well post it here as well, as it's equally as relevant.

Just watched The Wrestler. Honestly one of the most amazing films I've ever seen. It just brings out every emotion possible, and goes from really upbeat and happy to really down and upsetting in a very short space of time. Beautifully written, fantastically performed, and a great soundtrack to boot. As far as I'm concerned it's one of the great films of the last decade, stunning. Rourke truely deserved his Globe for that, and I hope he gets an Oscar. Stunning film.

Edit: Ron Simmons and Sgt Slaughter also been fired by the WWE. Fair old list been binned now!

Here's the list of WWE Superstars released so far...

Recently Released:
* Matt Cappotelli
* Gavin Spears
* Mike Kruel
* Kevin Thorn
* Val Venis
* Bam Neely
* D-Lo Brown
* Agent/Producer Tim White
* Referee Jimmy Korderas
* Referee Kevin Keenan
* Referee Mike Posey

Also, around 60 office staff from around the world, which is 10% of WWE's 600 strong workforce.

The firing of Spears is quite dissapointing in my opinion, from what I have seen of him I think he has a decent amount of technical ability, maybe he can find a career with TNA.

I'm absolutely raving about this new ECW Champ, Swagger. He's the future and IMO will be a top, top star in a few year's time.

Ziggler > Swagger. Swaggers got talent though, just don't think hes good enough on the mic, probably because of the lisp tbh. Morrison's the future of the WWE as well, he'll be the champ in a year or two. Going to be very good. I have to say, WWE > TNA comfortably atm.

Swagger's got his first PPV match at the Royal Rumble as well btw, first defense of his title taking on Matt Hardy (Y). Really wanting to watch the Rumble now, just annoying that it's on Box Office, and frankly I'm not willing to pay £14 for a PPV except possibly Wrestlemania. Sky really need to bring the PPV's back to SS1/2/3, annoys me that basically every PPV is on Box Office now.

Finally MVP's 20 week loosing streak comes to an end. Thanks to Triple H.

Next week, its going to be Vladimir vs Triple H.

Jeff Hardy injured badly due to the explosion at the stage(It was done by Egde). Hope he recovers soon.:upray

man i haven't watched this stuff in ages! use to love this show when the likes, of the Rock and Stone Cold were in it.

John Morrison will take Shawn Michaels place as the unlikely superstar, Morrison is amazing he makes others look so good but doesnt make himself look all that weak at the same time

Ill never forget the MITB match at Wrestlemania... he gave everything in that match, as did Shawn Michaels for Ric Flair

Dixie Carter has confirmed that Christian will re-appear in the WWE soon.

WWE have released Hardcore Holly.

Bet Vince is pissed. He's done brilliantly to keep the Christian story completely under wraps, there was that woeful rumour that Val Venis was seen with Christian at Raw, but apart from that there's been nothing on any of the rumour sites about Cage. Dixie coming out and saying that just helps dampen the hype for when he does return, like what happened with Jericho.

So I just finished watching ROH driven 2008 and my god, what a show. Nigel Mcguinness vs Roderick Strong was incredible. ROH really shows how terrible WWe is IMO
