Wrestling thread

I was thinking about making a post about Terry Funk's death and how much he's meant to the wrestling business and how much I've learned from him. I was just thinking about what I was going to write when I got a message from a buddy saying that Windham Rotunda a.k.a Bray Wyatt just passed away and I was at a loss for words.

I've heard Bray has had health issues the past few months but just a few days ago there was news that he was recovering and to hear that he passed away suddenly was a total shock. He had some heart issues and then got COVID and that made his heart worse. He was recovering and just today suffered a heart attack and passed away. Nothing more I can say because I can't think of the words.

Best I can do is recommend some matches.

Terry Funk vs Ric Flair for the nwa championship
Terry Funk vs Sabu vs Shane Douglas

The Wyatt Family vs The Shield
Bray Wyatt vs Daniel Bryan

There's way too many great promos from both men, I would just suggest going on YouTube and just listen to any promo by either men

Rest in peace Terry Funk
Rest in peace Bray Wyatt

Survivor Series Review (WarGames Only)

Men's WarGames: The match was good - the last year one was better though IMO!

Jey entrance was top notch, some good spots here & their until Randy showed up (he didn't show up until it was his turn to enter) which worried the faces a lot during the match. The Randy DDT spot by the whole team together was brilliant, JD getting RKO from the top of the cage was nuts & just like that Randy stole the show in few mins.

Women's WarGames: The teams were stacked on both sides (3 HW, 3 Joshis & the EST - all future HOF & already legends) minus Shotzi who held her own.

Iyo performed the diving trash can spot as it is tradition (love it), Asuka & Kairi were goofing around & Biance whooped everybody with her hair lol. Charlotte was disappointing (no big bumps in a bloody WarGames match) but Bayley was fantastic - she was involved a lot in the match (saved her team countless times, took bullets for her teammates & got murdered in the end)

@ahmedleo414 would you rate AEW or WWE as better right now?
If you want to talk about momentum, story telling and taking things more seriously. I would say wwe.

If you're purely interested in the best matches wwe can't touch aew. Aew has done a much better job with its story telling since the continental classic but there problem is their main world champion has spent most of his reign making jokes and now he's trying to be a more serious champion but it might be too little too late. I think it's time to take the belt off of mjf and rebuild him, which shouldn't be hard since he's great on the mic but his program with Adam Cole as entertaining as it was has seriously hurt the reputation of their main championship which every member of the roster should be aiming towards and turned it into a comedy title.

If it were my option I would put the title in Jon Moxley for a year have him beat the best wrestlers in aew and new Japan. At the same time have Eddie Kingston after losing the continental classic and his triple Crown title this year recommit himself and build himself up to next year's continental classic where he despite losing his early matches comes up and wins the tournament. After which he challenges his former best friend Jon Moxley for the title after a year of Moxley being undefeated and Kingston who has never won the world title finally beat him for the world title.... Sorry this is just my fantasy booking for aew

Moxleys already held the championship and did nothing with it...MJF ist he best they have and they had him, willingly or unwillingly, in a comedy skit that ran for about 4 months with ag uy who looks like a teenage wanabe rather than an actual wrestler. They even blew the momentum after the Wembley show and the biggest story out of that was Punk having an argument backstage.

AEW is done. Its an indie AE/ECW wanabe which cant decide if it wants to be "real pro wrestling" or a comedy sketch show.

Whats said is seeing the last days of careers like Bryan on a show beneath him.

That is possibly one of the worst takes I have I've heard.

First off, Moxley had one real run with the championship and out of all the people that have held that title, his was the best run. The other times they gave him the title was because either someone (Punk) was hurt, or suspended and he was just a transitional champion to the next champion.

Secondly, just because a guy isn't jacked to the gills you call him ugly who looks like a teenager? I assume you're talking about Adam Cole. That guy is probably in better shape than most people in the world despite having his ankle injured right now.

AEW biggest loss of momentum has to do with Punk and him being gone it will take time to rebuild.

Yes, I'm not the biggest fan of comedy sketch show in wrestling as I believe wrestling should be about tough men and women fighting to prove the are the best. But ever since the Continental Classic has started, there's been a lot fewer (not zero, but a lot less than before) comedy segments and a lot more serious promos and people wanting to go after MJF and the world title.

If you think being the number 2 company is beneath someone like Bryan who spent most of his career in number 4-5-6-7 companies when even WWE didn't want to hire him because he was too small then you're just delusional.

Is AEW perfect, no way. Is wrestling better because AEW is in it 10000000000000000%. Wrestlers are making more money, competition has made WWE step up their game (Just look at the last 20 years when they didn't have any competition), Wrestling is in the shape it is right now because of AEW.

AEW still has a massive advantage over WWE in one major way in my opinion, they don't hinder their wrestlers to wrestle a certain way or talk a certain way or to use certain words and to me it just feels like a more natural promotion. Every time I try to watch WWE it just looks like a polished corporate wrestling product. When I watch AEW I can still see (more so lately, than this past year) people speaking from the heart and wanting to prove they are the best wrestlers in the world
