better to sign a new wkt keeper ..both guy n dawood r not upto d mark.can we have a make-shift keeper like M.Lumb?will it affect d fielding n catchin?

You can use a make shift keeper, but form past experience, doesn't really work that well. Catches dropped, lots of byes, he may score a few more runs, but is it worth the catches going down or all the extra byes? It's your choice, but one I personally have tried to avoid

Yeah, I have to agree. It's always better to have your first choice keeper keeping and not to have someone who can just bat better.

There are even some keepers who will score you runs but just drop a load anyway, Ive definately decided these days to play the best glove man as even they can add you the odd 50.

I have Chris Read as my keeper. In the first season he only dropped one catch and made 5 50's.This year he has 2 100's in his first 2 First Class matches.

k i m gonna terminate simon guys n dawoods contract at d end of season n sign a new keeper.will that work?
Its risky, id keep at least one of them because there is no guarantee there will be a wicketkeeper who has been released and on the list.

My first-year first-choice Yorkshire team was usually:
1 - P Jacques (averaged over 66)
2 - M Vaughn (averaged 54 and took 26 wickets as well)
3 - M Lumb (averaged 45)
4 - J Sayers
5 - I Harvey
6 - A McGrath
7 - C White
8 - R Blakey (all my keepers were pretty rubbish)
9 - R Dawson
10 - M Hoggard
11 - C Silverwood

It was a great batting line-up, but hopeless for bowling, particularly in one-day games. None of my bowlers averaged under 30. I came 4th in the County Championship.

After the first season I lost Silverwood, White (retired) and Harvey (don't know where he went). I signed Greg Flower, Lungley and a Sri-Lankan fast bowler called something like Nakahatayahanahaya, so first choice line-up is now:

1 - P Jacques (averages 58)
2 - G Flower (mediocre batting but took 19 wickets @ 26)
3 - M Vaughn (averages 52 and took 16 wickets)
4 - J Sayers (averages 48)
5 - M Lumb
6 - A McGrath
7 - R Blakey (his batting improved this season)
8 - R Pryah or T Lungley depending on whether I want a batsman or bowler
9 - R Dawson
10 - M Hoggard (52 wkts @ 26)
11 - M Nakahataya (82 wickets @ 21)

I should be just about to win the County Championship (division 2), am 4th in the national league and got to the finals of the Challenge and 20/20.

oh thanks for telling me that white retires at the end of 1st season. but how did you lose silverwood and harvey? for me mark lawson bowls better than dawson. and how come blakey didnt retire after the 1st season? i agree with you that none of the yorkshire keepers are good enough! and timothy bresnan is a pretty good bowler too..

I think the retirements aren't entirely predictable, I suspect if I was to replay the season again I would get different people retiring. I was a bit annoyed at Silverwood retiring, since he was my top wicket-taker the previous year. Bresnan and Lawson are competent bowlers, but not my first choice.

I got promoted in both Championship and One-day, unfortunately now the game crashes if I try to play the 2007 season :(

At the end of my 1st season Richard Blakey retired and the brilliant Ian Harvey left. i also terminated the contracts of Simon Guy, Richard Dawson, Nicholas Thornicroft, Chris Taylor and James Cartwright. i signed Shahid Afridi, Andy Flower and Richard Johnson for the next season. now my batting line up is awesome indeed. Also bowling has been strengthened by the inclusion of Afridi and Johnson. So my playing XI in the batting order would be:
Matthew Wood
Philip Jacques
Michael Lumb
Michael Vaughan(c)
Anthony McGrath
Andrew Flower(w)
Shahid Afridi
Craig White
Richard Johnson
Chris Silverwood
Matthew Hoggard
My Reserves: Mark Lawson, Tim Bresnan, Joseph Sayers, Richard Pyrah and Scott Bradley
