Utter nonsense. How many more deaths do you want to see before you accept that any weapon that has the potential to take life, SHOULD BE BANNED?

If the weapon has the potential to seriously injure anyone, IT SHOULD BE BANNED FROM CIVILIAN USE! Anyone who disagrees with this, IS ESSENTIALLY A CRACK POT!

what a ridiculous post.

you've clearly had too much sugar. go sit in the corner i'm officially putting you in time-out.

Sorry grandpa..... But you are not allowed to talk to people from the other world! Please come back 'born again' as a new (and hopefully more saner!) person.:rolleyes

On a more serious note, stand by what I said! Guns should only be handled by people from the military, cops or people in civilian control positions. Can't believe there are unscrewed people who disagree.....

Except this was your point

Which from where I'm sitting is not the point you seem to think you're now standing by. I think what you're actually stood by might resemble a blunt instrument... which could be used to bludgeon someone to death and as such should probably be removed. Come to think of it, that point could well have been sharp, and as such might still have been a danger and has the potential to be turned into a skiv.

You have no idea what my viewpoint on gun control is.

I was just saying that your post was ridiculous.

Any post where the person gets over-emotional, bursts into capital letters repeatedly and questions the sanity of anyone who disagrees is always, always going to be absolutely terrible.

are we really boiling the us presedential elections down to gun control issues?

it's a bit stupid for the republicans to be crying now, if they'd wanted to win they could have picked ron paul as he would have given them a realistic chance of winning swing states, but he wasn't enough of a millionaire nut job for them. if they learn anything from this perhaps it's that conducting an absolute farce of a candidacy race isn't the best preperation.

I wanted obama to win whoever the republican candidate was (actually a lie, I'd have voted libertarian if I was american) but I'd certainly have been less terrified of ron paul than mitt romney.

Any election campaign that costs something like 1.6 billion dollars during a global recession is a farce anyway.

Yes and no. That money is at least being used to stimulate the US economy (in particular the marketing sector!).
Ultimately the GOP lost because of demographics and unless they recognise that and become more inclusive rather than more conservative they'll lose in 2016 as well.

the irony is that the republican party inexplicably appeals to demographs it shouldn't. most of the safe democratic states are wealthy, business centres whereas most of the safe republican states have low incomes (the poorest 12 states, only new mexico votes democrat) it's the republican states that end up being welfare subsidised by the democrat states, and yet these states are the ones crying out for that welfare to be cut.

it's hard to see how it would actually win any votes at all instead of just relying on old ingrained political allegiances.

i do like how the american dream has screwed over large swathes of the american population. then basically convinced them that they should work harder for less money and anybody who tries to lend a hand to those who need it is an evil (muslim) communist who wants to destroy america.

Although having said this I do not like the rampant anti-americanism that seems to be chic now.

It's a great country. one of the best in the world, it obviously has huge faults but name me a civilisation or society that couldn't be similarly criticised

Romney's campaign fell off the rails due to a bunch of gaffes he and his party made. There was obviously the 47% comment which was blown up. That a presidential candidate thinks this privately is worrisome but that he says it publicly is atrocious.

Then there was Mourdock with his ---- babies comment. Once again, how can a Senator in your party be making such inane comments when you're running for president?

The problem was Romney was trying to be divisive and Obama was trying to be inclusive. I've been reading The Victory Lab and it points out how one of the things the Obama campaign did was finding people who would vote for him and making sure they go out and vote.

Anyhow, I'm glad this is all over. I hope the political procedure does not stifle progress for the next 2 years.
