Zimbabwe Triangular Series 2010

Chandimal ftw! I was hyping him up to my Sri Lankan friend a few months ago, and he's come good.

Poor fielding from India too. Poor performance. Rohit, Jadeja and Kohli were the few positives to take from this series. Raina...well, at least this rules him out as a future Indian captain choice! :p

So the final will be Zimbabwe vs Sri Lanka.

Anyway, the good news is that the senior Indian players will be fresh for the next tournament (Asia Cup).

Not surprised by this. I hope the selectors learn that throwing a bunch of players together does not make a team. You have to assign roles for certain players and play to there strengths.

Looks like Sachin wont retired for a while. He cant, or else India is screwed. Same goes for Dravid and VVS

SL v Zim. If Zims win, it will be HUGE for them

Dravid and VVS don't play ODI's. And we have won a lot of ODI's without Sachin over the last few years. So not really. If you are referring to test matches then you haven't seen any of our youngsters play test matches yet. Can't comment on what you haven't seen.

I am talking about test. Yes. And if the 'youngsters' cant win ODI against Zim, it's less likely that they will play good Test cricket.

Raina, Kohil are on the line next. I really cant comment on those guys, its very unpredictable. I dont see Sharma playing test, thats just my opinion. And rest of the new guys, not any time soon

I am talking about test

None of the batsman that played in today's ODI have made a test debut. So you can't say how well/badly they will do.

EDIT: lol... Murli Vijay struggle the whole series. That means he's gonna suck in test matches from now on?

Sorry, my post got saved even before I was finished typing it.

Virat Kholi is probably the best bet for test matches I would say. He has the right technique. Raina probably not. Rohit still has to prove he deserves a spot. The innings he played in this series weren't even that good. He got lucky in quite a few shots he played.

Finally, India knocked out and Zimbabwe-SL go ahead. Phew! Considering the side we sent in, this is not a surprise by any means.

Ashwin had a very good debut. 38 runs from the bat and 2 wickets. How idiotic was it to open with two wicketkeepers? They could have opened with Ojha and Yusuf and had Karthik down the order. Anyways, its over now (I guess we have some T20's with Zimbabwe, and we might lose those too). Good for us!

I am not at all surprised by this.
I knew this would happen, well I agree with you that we might loose the T20's too.:D

Let's see... 1 o'clock starts. That should make for more even games, although it won't stop Zimbabwe from scoring off India's bowlers.

Sachin retiring will just bring Kohli into the team, and that's still a very strong team with Dhoni, Yuvraj, Raina, Kohli, Gambhir, and Sehwag as batsmen. Possibly Pathan/Jadeja/Rohit Sharma for 7th man and then Zaheer, Harbhajan, and two mediocre bowlers. And one after one, they'll retire and have someone to fill in their shoes.

I think in ODI's, we have a very good team and even without Sachin, we are strong enough to do well (though without Sachin, we will be prone to blowing hot and cold a lil more often which we have to deal with). We have found out that Dinesh Karthik, Murali Vijay are not the immediate replacements for any player if injured. These two need lot of work (in Karthik's case, he has had too many chances and I have given up on him). We need to work on our bowling a lot.

But with a board like the BCCI, we are all wasting time discussing about the composition of Indian cricket. We have to live with what we get.

Just wondering isn't there any other specialist ODI opener other than Vijay? Surely we have someone else. Because from what I've seen Vijay is a very limited batsman. He has a few shots and his technique isn't suited for the ODI and T20 format. BCCI should just let him focus on test matches. I don't mind him in tests. As for Karthik he hasn't taken his chances yes. However he has had to shuffle around a lot in terms of the batting order. Why don't the BCCI realize that he should be used as a finisher in ODI's and not part time opening <_<

Either one of Karthik or Uttappa (once fit) should replace Yusuf Pathan as the # 7. Pathan is not a damn finisher he sucks.
