Cricket boss Giles Clarke says he will consider proposals for an English version of the Indian Premier League.
The IPL has signed some of the world's top stars but Dimitri Mascarenhas will be the only English player involved.
England's centrally contracted players are not allowed to appear in the IPL and Clarke plans to launch his own Twenty20 tournament as early as 2010.
He said: "We believe that we can set up a spectator-friendly, economically sustainable competition of our own."

Giles Clarke has said that he wants to possibly set up an EPL. Lahit Modi said he thinks it would be fine if not played at the same time and also Alan Stanford may get in touch.

Could this be a new revolution in the game of cricket that was once percieved as boring to most people? What are your views?

I can see Destruction of World Cricket has begun

Are they jealous of the IPL or summat? There is no point in having two...

Besides as Cricketman said, one is enough, we don't want Tewnty20 taking over the world...

I don't see a problem with a EPL version, who's to say what they can and cant do. the Stanford 20/20 has been successfully in the Caribbean and his investment in the EPL version could be the key.

England already have a successful 20 over competition. It is of a high standard, attracts high profile players, and gets large crowds. So why do we need an English Premier League?

You are right, they don't need an EPL. The IPL is one of a kind in its highly international based nature and the Twenty20 Cup of England does a fine job as it is.

I think the ECB just want to have a chance to milk the cash cow.
I watched the finals of the T20 Cup last year and enjoyed it. Why do you want an EPL now?

Don't think it will fly tbh.

then they should rename it to ICC PL.. or something.

Or they should make more of these leagues, so more and more players get chance to play in different clubs like football.

It has only been one man, Giles Clarke, who has proposed it. I would be surprised if anyone wanted it.

Soon end up having some world tour. Could be interesting to see how it all pans out.

It's also probably a move to prevent English players going abroad instead of representing their country since it fits into the English schedule. Question is, how is it possible to schedule a tournament that doesn't interfere with the English County Season, the IPL and the International calendar?
