iPhone 4

Apple is an extremely petty company. Instead of manning up and admitting that they messed up the antenna design, they're going on a mudslinging campaign.

No one's arguing that phones don't have an antenna problem. People are arguing that the iPhone 4's antenna problem is extremely easy to invoke, especially when held in a normal grip. That page might as well show photos of Blackberry's and Droids buried under a trench and then claim that the signal goes down.

:sarcasm

I have Verizon. And Droid ans with Droid X, lets see how that goes. I could either come back to AT&T and pick this at the end of Oct. or get the new droid. I like the droid i have right now.

btw how lame is this Apple Disses Droid X - PCWorld

This is EXACTLY why I hate Apple. They fool people and the more depressing fact is that people do get easily fooled. This is a perfect example. Apple's marketing team is genius, they so perfectly transformed an obvious, horrible flaw in the iPhone 4 to actually something better than the other smart phones (considering that Apple fanboys are now arguing on forums that "other phones drop to 0 bars, iPhone 4 still has 1 bar".

I don't know about the authenticity of the other tests but nothing I do to my sister's N97 mini can cause it to drop THAT much signal.

Disgusting. I think they are losing face to be honest.

Was just reading articles and seeing YouTube videos on this issue last night. Are Apple going to rectify the problem any soon and ship out new sets of the iPhone 4? Are you going to do any update to the software to rectify it? They are providing free bumper cases to all those who buy the iPhone 4 through the end of Sept. Does it mean they are planning to bring in new rectified sets from Oct? I want to get the iPhone but I dont want to get their ugly bumpers to cover the antennas because I want the transparent see through skin cases that dont make my phone look ugly.

I have the HTC Aria as backup if Apple doesnt rectify this problem by this year.

They should fix it by then, only that makes sense. It'd be a great buy once they iron out the issues!

You can also now have the Samsung Captivate on AT&T, and it far outclasses the HTC Aria, and is neck and neck with the iPhone 4, better in raw performance.

Yeah, saw that phone too. Only thing is, here Best Buy (the popular computer store) sells it for $230 while AT&T sells it for $199. Since I have only a Best Buy credit card, I am looking at phones that sell at Best Buy.

Hope the iPhone 4 problem is solved. Still inclined towards it

Edit: Check this article
Samsung Captivate/Vibrant Caught in Grip of Death

Is the Captivate also facing the same "grip of death" antenna problem that iPhone 4 is facing? The above article says so.

The only time I will buy an Apple is to eat one.

I hope someone sues them for this, probably BlackBerry. I tried holding Xperia in around 100 different ways but it did not drop more than 1 bar. :p

If smartphones really dropped signals like this, why would the iPhone 4 be the first phone where it became immediately obvious? BlackBerry has ruled the roost in smartphone technology for more years than the iPhone has been in development, yet there have been no complaints about the signal attenuation.

The iPhone 4 has a serious flaw and suddenly all phones are bad? The kicker is the fact that you need to hold the other phones in such specific ways to see the signal drop whereas with the iPhone it's pretty much the normal left-handed grip.

I tried it with my N81 today. Nothing I do to it makes it attenuate that much signal. Worst case scenario where I held it so tight I could feel some plastic actually curving, that it'd drop 1-2 bars. I've never held the phone so tight in daily usage.

My uncle had his iPhone 4 here last week. I played around with it and boy is it gorgeous. The screen just caught me the second I turned it on, far better than anything else i have seen. I tried to make the bars dropped but couldn't.

I'm rethinking my plans of going with the Droid X in nov and thinking about jumping ship to apple land :D

You're on AT&T? I thought you were on Verizon. Verizon (and T-Mobile to an extent) gets the really cool phones whereas AT&T are really slack at getting the really attractive phones with their service. I cant move to Verizon because my phone is linked with my dad's family plan (and dad doesnt plan to move to Verizon because our relatives and friends are all AT&T and we get the "AT&T Smart calling" or whatever where we can store 10 numbers in our online account and we get unlimited calling to those 10 numbers which doesnt eat into the minutes we have).

I will wait till Nov too, and then probably take the jump into iPhone 4 (hopefully the problems in it, if any, would be solved by then).

Apple believes Bluetooth is only required for for pairing headset. :doh

Just live in your cocoon Apple users. :p

Either you are very lucky or you are a apple fanboy;)
