Can I say something despite being a normal user?

Why the stories shouldn't be nominated back to back? If they deserve it, they should be. No point in less deserved story winning the competition. And, I don't know why SOTQ stories be those which won SOTM. There can be a story which never won SOTM but goes on to win SOTQ. Go Tigers Go! is a top of my head example.

There is actually a lot of thought put behind nomination of SOTQ stories. And, one thing is for sure only the deserving stories are nominated and hopefully deserving stories win.
Bro, I was talking in perspective of 'encouraging' all the story writers, for which that rule suits the best. Anyway, even your argument is a worth notable cause there is no harm if he deserves it.

But in my opinion, we should encourage more people by getting their stories & efforts they're putting into limelight, as this is a competition run for 'entertainment & fun'. It might be just a silly competition, but a story writer would feel happy, if he gets remunerated with something for his continual efforts on a particular story.

I agree with User, stories need to be nominated each month even if they won as otherwise their motivation is decreased.

And normally, SOTQ features not only the ones who came top each month but those who came close to the top over those three months as well.

Sorry for being ignorant, can you kindly elaborate what actually do you mean by the term 'Motivation' in this particular context?

Encouraging all is far better job than encouraging a particular person and making him win all the time is what I (not only me, but many) feel.

One of the reasons why the SOTM was introduced was to provide motivation for people writing stories.

User2010 is right. If a story is going well than it should be nominated in SOTM and SOTQ. I would like to remind that these changes were done because some members started writing stories for SOTM. I guess the current system for SOTM and SOTQ is fine.

Binnu, encouraging doesn't necessarily mean allowing a story to win a competition by not nominating better ones. If a story has to win something, it has to beat the best. That will encourage the writer more and motivate him more. If just a win means encouragement then I'm sure those people do not write the stories for fun and entertainment.

Also, maybe don't include my and Shan's story in the SOTM or whatever if that helps the cause.

Good, why don't we provide the same to other stories as well?

Thats what I was saying. If you nominate the same story, the probability of that story winning again are more, which means the competition is leading to discouragement of other people.....:spy.

PS: It has happened only once in past, and I'm sure thats gonna repeat with the User's & Shantanu's story. And, I don't have any personal hatred towards them. They deserve multiple titles. But I'm trying to encourage all.

If any writer is encouraged by getting nominated in SOTM then he should firstly make his story good enough to get nominated and the main thing is that I don't think good writers write story to get nominated in SOTM. There is no point of nominating the stories which have no story line. Shantanu's and User2010 story is going well and in my opinion it's currently one of the better stories in stories forum. So, why not include their story? If any story writer is consistently putting good efforts into his story then his story deserves to get nominated in SOTM. If any new story is going well then obviously it will be nominated in SOTM.

But I'm trying to encourage all.
See, I tell you one thing as a writer myself. The satisfaction I had winning the SOTQ was enormous just because there were Trev's, Shantanu's, Aditya's, and other good writers' stories in there. Same goes with SOTM as well. If someone beats the best, he deserves it. There is no point in encouraging (in a false sense) a writer.

And, I don't really care about SOTM as some people blindly vote. Some unknowns vote while some people who are close to each other vote. Just takes away the fun.

Sorry, I din't mean that way.

I agree, but these stakes should be in SOTQ level, not at the basic/SOTM level.

For example: If some person X want to beat Sachin Tendulkar in batting, that guy should have fair bit of encouragement to compete in that level. When he says that he wants to beat Tendulkar's records and soon his friends start making fun of him, he'd lose the interest and drop the matter right there.

So, what I'm trying to say is when we've got two competitions running (SOTM and SOTQ), why can't we use SOTM for encouraging all and use SOTQ to decide who the best is?

I've no words left to say after that example. Callum and Surender to the rescue.

Lol, there nothing to rescue here:laugh:p! It was my personal opinion, which I backed it up with a good example and some of you din't like it. And moreover, I'm not the mod here to right away implement that:p. So, I guess there is no need of the word rescue:laugh.

Or maybe, this thread is getting spammed, so they can rescue this thread;).

That analogy has no place here. Doesn't fit this example.

Why can't you just leave it be. The current system is perfectly fine

A good example? Yeah, sure.

That may not be the exact example, but conveys what I though perfectly:yes (SOTM for encouragement and SOTQ for checking out the best).

It was my suggestion bro, for which I had to back up myself. I don't have any problem with the existing system. But I said the competition may be even fairer, if my system gets going.
