The spinner spot for the Champions Trophy squad is a very tight one.. There are the captain favourites, Ashwin and Jadeja, the recent performers, Axar and Mishra and also Jayant Yadav.. But I don't see all of them going to England in the champions trophy squad..

Chahal would be a better option than Nadeem.

His bowling will get hammered in England. You need guys who can pick wickets in England. I would imagine Ashwin, Jadeja and Mishra to be the spin bowling attack in the CT with Umesh, Shami, Bhuvaneshwar, Bumrah and Hardik being the seamers. While we are at it, my ICC CT squad to put up a solid defence would be:

England pitches are not spinning tracks... And Axar relies more on his length and pace variations than turn.... Why would he get hammered?

Indian tracks allow for the darts to become more potent because of the natural variations. The same bowler on flatter, truer tracks would not be able to create those doubts because the wickets do not lend any variability. England is one place you need genuine wicket takers to win ODI cricket. I don`t see the point of picking Axar when Jadeja is available. Im not a Jadeja fanboy but he brings a lot more to the table, with his fielding especially. Remember the CT 2013 in England, the runout of Petersen in the first game against SA and his bowling in the final.

I am looking forward for jadhav, He was amazing in NZ series. Hopefully he will be a good pick for that Raina's role. And hope Hardik Pandya performs well. We need him fine tuned for CT.

Exactly. They both are similar. Jadeja is just an upgrade of Axar. Axar might be better with bat, but Jaddu is better in bowling and far better than Axar in fielding.

So if Hardik Pandya can give some quality overs then u can play Ashwin
Jadeja nd Axar together......
Just imagine Jadeja nd Axar bowling together in last say 10-15 overs ..combined with Bumrah nd Shami ..
This will improve our death bowling to a great extent , which has been the main problem of India since decades..
This will even give Ashwin to attack more ..
Nd this will also increase the depth of our batting.

I think that would be the trio the selectors would go with but I would want to experiment Chahal also. He is a very good bowler. I am not too sure of how well Mishra will do on the English tracks. Jaddu did good in the 2013 Champions Trophy and Ashwin did very well in the last series played in England in 2014. Axar is not a very good bowler. He does not have much variety in his bowling. His batting is better than Jaddu's, but Jaddu batted well in the Test series against England. For the batting, I think Raina should not come in because Jadhav is bowling and batting well. Raina's batting has been terrible in the last few series he played, and Jadhav should be set to be that extra bowler Dhoni can use for a breakthrough/

If Jayant Yadav is fit, he should be the third spinner assuming Ash and Jaddu are playing. Jayant can provide assistance with bat too if we collapse.
