Whats the mood like in NZ? people must still be pretty proud of the boys?[DOUBLEPOST=1563189244][/DOUBLEPOST]
I'm so sad
Kiwis love their sport! I remember being in NZ the day after they lost the Rugby semi final to France in 2007 i think...it was honestly like a nuclear bomb had just knocked everyone out....the quietness and somberness was unbelievable. But the Kiwi generally does it in a dignified way and after a while shrugs the shoulders and gets on with it.

Few words from Kane showing how its done:

"While the emotions are raw, it is pretty hard to swallow," said Williamson. "The rules are there at the start.

"No-one probably thought they would have to sort a result by some of that stuff."

Guptill and Neesham, the two batsmen sent out to play the super over, were consoled by the England players as they fell to their knees at the conclusion and the team were greeted warmly by the crowd at the presentation.

Asked at his post-match news conference whether he thought "everyone should be a gentleman like you" Williamson laughed and replied: "Everybody is allowed to be themselves, and everybody should be a little bit different as well.

"That is probably my best answer - just be yourself and try and enjoy what you do."

The ICC needs to do a hard rethink in terms of umpiring standards. Hard hard rethink. Apparently best umpires in the world making such errors. What the hell do these umpires do anyway? Most decisions are made by the third umpire!!
Yeah I heard about this, So England won the world cup due to a error by the umpires, Which means New Zealand are the rightful World Champions.

But https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/...judgement-awarding-six-runs-says-simon-taufel
1 extra, precious run that could've given New Zealand the Worldcup. Rules are rules.

Just pointing out the diversity
Simon Taufel is Australian so he’s probably just bitter that England won. Nothing to see there.

Yes we have a diverse team, not sure if you’re using that to make a dig at the English team or not? Jason roy moved to England when he was and 10 and Ben Stokes when he was 12. Ben Stokes learned the game in Northern England. No problem with it...

I haven't actually left the house haha

Most people are sad at the outcome but proud of the team for playing as well as they did, after everyone had written them off. Probably a lot of talkback radio listeners spouting off a bunch of garbage about either Boult's 'catch', the superover, the boundary countback, the stokes '6' etc. But I think many people have accepted that this is just how sport sometimes works

Aye, one of the best former umpires’ opinion should be discarded because he happens to hail from our fierce rival’s country. :rolleyes

The digs towards England’s diverse team is strange too, barring Morgan none of these players would have been so good if they weren’t developed by English cricket. They have no problems in identifying with themselves as proud Englishmen too, wonder why it’s being made an issue all of a sudden.

It makes even less sense when you remember that NZ have a Zimbabwean, South African and Indian by birth in their squad.

I think I might be criticized for it, but despite having their best team in their history England still cannot go on to win the WC final. Yeah the result did go their way but they didn't go on to win the Final. I think England should consider themselves lucky to have got away at the end not to lose the match. The credit also should go to the Kiwis for actually defending a total that England on most of the occasions chase it down in 42-43 overs. I think New Zealand did way better than what they were expecting to do. If we consider the Semi-final match against India and the Final New Zealand probably emerged as victorious for the tournament. Sorry to say but it was actually England's loss of not being able to win the Final. England probably had a very good tournament and finally they broke the jinx of not being able to win the WC so, well done Boys !!!! But did England deserve to get as much credit as previous World Champions did ? I leave it to you guys.

Ha ha the best part of what he said was: i dont think the extra run not being given by the umpires made a difference to the outcome....mawahahwhahahahahhwhaahah....say what Simon? Were we watching the same game?

There was one captain holding up the trophy and it was not Kane Williamson....however people want to twist it England are World Champions, they won the final, they won the match. Ridiculous point to make that England actually lost. I saw it with my eyes. I saw a photo in the paper this morning. England are World Champions for the next four years. Were they lucky at some points, yes. Every team is. You can analyse every run a team makes and doesn't make and discover a certain element of 'luck' in it.....oh, unlucky the batsman could only scrape that yorker away to mid-off, oh unlucky the ball just went past the edge....ad nausea.

I did not say England did not win the WC. But in the hindsight England are the losers (doesn't mean they are bad but unfortunately failed to do what they were expected to). I've got no advantage in twisting things here so it is of no use for me to waste my time and energy in getting involved in these stupid things. No doubt England are World Champions the fact is they did not win the Final. From the records point of view this Final is going to be counted as a tie. Even Cricinfo reads this as a Tie!
