Should Ireland and Kenya be given Test Status?

I think the Irish national team should be in all the English domestic competitions, not just the FP Trophy. To balance things, Scotland could be added as well.

Yes because the ICU and Cricket Scotland are really going to give up money spinning ODIs against Test playing opponents to play a full season of county cricket.

Let's not be silly.

They may be money spinning, but do they necessarily do the teams any good? Learning to put away county sides could be the first step to competitive test matches for Ireland and Scotland. The game's money money money attitude is what's bringing playing standards down.

So you're suggesting that playing in tournaments where they lose money is the best way to progress cricket in Ireland and Scotland? Make it so they have less money to spend on development? Playing in the county tournaments is precisely what will bring standards down, whilst playing against Test opposition will bring standards up.

Ireland? No way. As Andrew has said OVER and OVER, there is a lot more to becoming a test nation, or even a decent associate, than playing results. On top of that, Ireland have scored two wins and a tie from one World Cup, and suddenly they are worthy of Test selection? Kenya made the Semis last time around and they still haven't been awarded Test status, so why? Because they do not fit the other criteria, and because one tournament is one tournament.

I highly doubt Ireland would beat any current test nation bar Zimbabwe (who they most likely wouldn't anyway) right now if they stepped straight in, they aren't even second overall behind Kenya; Scotland is overall still a better side, and were in the toughest pool there was, the top two ODI nations pre tournament, whilst the Irish's only real amazing victory was against Pakistan, they lost to the only decent side in their pool, and tied with the worst side in test and odi cricket out there (barring associates).

Kenya is not too far off from their playing results, but they are still not there yet. We must wait until the real evidence is present, and the sides can do more than just upset a few lightweights at one World Cup each. Obviously Pakistan are no lightweights generally, but they were not too great at the WC.

No we dont want to loose a test match now, :p lol. well the answer is no because they can't be lucky for 5 days in a row..

Definitely,As Tests Really Play Extra-ordinary Role on this teams.Ex:Bangladesh!

it's not extraordinary beating zimbabwe

You said test cricket had an extraordinary effect on Bangladesh but, in 7 years of test cricket, the only team they have beaten is Zimbabwe.

Yup, but when they started, they wouldn't have come close to beating Australia and Pakistan in test matches. Also, playing in the Test arena has helped their ODI game a lot. It's not all about going in there and smashing from the word go and by playing the waiting game in Test cricket, they are learning that there is much time in ODI cricket.

Restore the Natwest Series to a tri-series with England, Ireland and the tourists. How's about that?

Likewise, I agree that the ICC should be more business-minded about some of its investments. Money given to Zimbabwe; where is it going? Will that investment ever mature? With the state of the economy, is that money even worth anything in Zimbabwe? How many less important members could be benefited by just a portion of that investment?

There is no case for creating new full members out of thin air (although Ireland might if they can prove they have the infrastructure to consistently attract Australians), but there is altogether too much of a case to remove Zimbabwe.

these associate teams should play th domestic cricket of countries like Australia , england , India ,Pakistan . they shuld be allowed to participate like a team .One associate member should be alloted one international country. What i Mean is Kenya should play domestic cricket in australia like one team . irelan in india , Scotland in County and so on .Once they start winning there consistently they shuld be promote to odi's and test .

The Irish players have jobs to hold down in Ireland. They can't afford to fly to India to play domestic cricket. Until the Irish are full time players they won't be able to do things like that.

I too thut abt that. But it will take a hell lot of a long time for associate countries to develop if the current method of "developing" the game is persisted with .
They have to find a way out .
Or
Some of the associate teams shuld be promoted to test n odi arena .But the performance rating of the major test playing nations against them shuld be cut by half .
