Well looks like Australia believe again, anything over 320 will be tough to chase, that catch was crucial

Lucky Labuschange at it again.

Aaaaaand bowling three quicks for pretty much 1/3 of the innings each looks like it broke one. I feel for Akash here, but that strategy was bound to cause some kind of problem later in the game (and even in the series?)

Today's Teatime Takeaways:
  1. Drop Mitch Marsh
  2. Bumrah is the best bowler we've seen in Aus since 2013/14 Johnson
  3. Drop Mitch Marsh
  4. Australia's middle order has problems too, although they're more solvable
  5. Drop Mitch Marsh
  6. We wrote off Marnus too soon
  7. Drop
  8. Mitch
  9. Marsh
  10. Don't overexert your bowlers and end up breaking them
  11. Did I remember to put dropping Mitch Marsh on this list?
(I have no hate for Mitch as a human being, and I think he belongs in our limited overs teams still, but at Test level he barely bowls and is unbelievably cooked with the bat. Meanwhile, Beau Webster is putting up Sobers numbers in the Shield)

Justin Langer speaks in a tone as if he is narrating a old time story

Labuschange single handedly handing Australia a victory here. The fightback by our bowlers is great, but I feel Australia have enough on the board. The pitch has started misbehaving too, so that will add to the woes of our fragile batting unit.

Pat Cummins once again torturing us with his immaculate batting.

300 runs in just over a day,
I agree that it's in the balance - but a reminder that the highest successful chase in the last 60 years at the MCG is 231. The highest not against the 2013 Ashes team that had already gone through about two full XIs at that point is below 200. It's more the eight batters and the fact you guys made 300+ in the first innings that are in your favour

EDIT: With that four, we're now up to the second highest successful chase of all time at the MCG if India do it
