300 runs in just over a day,
I agree that it's in the balance - but a reminder that the highest successful chase in the last 60 years at the MCG is 231. The highest not against the 2013 Ashes team that had already gone through about two full XIs at that point is below 200. It's more the eight batters and the fact you guys made 300+ in the first innings that are in your favour

EDIT: With that four, we're now up to the second highest successful chase of all time at the MCG if India do it

I think bigger chases are becoming more commmon, certainly it feels that way. That might be from Bazball though.

Based on the pitches, I'd almost take India's 300 chase than South Africa's 150 vs Mo Abbas.

Oh definitely! There's a clear order in which pitch is best for batting among the three Boxing Day Tests around the world right now, lol.

I think it's almost completely even. Maybe 45-20-35 Australia. (That 20 is mainly because I have "Indian tail bats out the entire Day 5" trauma lol)

23 runs already added by the 10th wicket. How crucial will those be?

Pretty ordinary from India in the last half an hour.

Lyon likes to slog sweep so I think we can have Jadeja lure him for that shot while keeping square leg in the deep. Hayden would tell how many times Harbhajan got him that way.

Boland batted well.

Has a good defence.

Fast bowlers looked exhausted maybe a few tactics here and there.

The thing with Akash Deep he is inexperienced yes at times unlucky but tries too much.

Wasted the 2nd new ball in the first innings too bowling erratic length.

Just bring in Mukesh McGrath Kumar somehow in the playing 11 :D

Spineless, toothless bowling. Boland will score a ton tomorrow and India be left chasing 400 odd. We will lose ofcourse.

India missing Shami big time.

The captaincy after 7th wicket has been particularly ordinary. India targeted the incoming batsman but in the process kept a defensive field for the present batsman giving him a leeway to tuck runs around. Happened with Pat with him and Starc were batting and then with him and Lyon and again when Lyon and Boland allowing them to settle down. Instead, we should have went for a kill. The fiery short balls with a short leg or a Yorker here and there were missing.

There was a clear lack of plan for the last 3-4 wickets. I hope the recognized batsmen for once play like proper batsmen and it's not upon the tail to save the day. Remember it's 334 to chase (assuming Australia will declare overnight) in 90 overs but it is also the 90 overs to survive!!
