Cricket 24 - General Discussion

Currently creating a fictional t20 league with teams from around the world. As someone who doesn't follow cricket too closely to know all the specific attributes of every player, I really hope in cricket 26 they have a better UI for displaying attributes and a better ratings system. Premium spinners seem to top at like 72 overall which just makes trying to assess players impossible. Then there's the Wild West that is proficiencies which I can't wrap my head around.

I'd also love to be able to pause and see my players attributes mid game! I've never come across a sports game that does this?

Give us a proper ratings system and rework the mentalities to fit the modern game more. Give traits like Finishers who excel in the final overall and give us Death Bowler traits. Try and make players feel more unique, this can then translate into other formats. Seems like this would be really easy to code into the game and Im really interested to see how attributes appear in the pro team mode or whatever it's called
Proficiencies are actually pretty well explained, unfortunately the system just doesn't seem to work as intended in terms of editing. I don't know how much they do or don't impact gameplay. I actually think it's one of area where you could easily expand and make skills more interesting, like you say, to create more unique types of players.

Think I've been asking for an in-game look at player skills since DBC 17. Fingers crossed we might get it one day.

Yeh the proficiencies are explained well enough. Don't have the game open but isn't there one for running speed but there's also an attribute for running between the wickets too? It just seems so confusing.

I'm creating a massive spreadsheet to create an auction so I'm trying to give every player a value which is impossible without having to go into every single player

Possible Cricket 26 news incoming, for anyone interested:

At this point I would not like a new Cricket game from them. The game play has been same since Cricket 19, not improved a bit, I'll go to a point to say that it's worse than Ashes Cricket. A game they released in 2017! It's gone downhill from there.
Ashes Cricket still is the best cricket game ever created.

Yeah, there does appear to be different skills and proficiencies that overlap.

I think for proficiencies what I'd do is have them be relevant for particular formats or situations. Ideally, mirroring each other. So, one that is useful for test matches. one that is useful for limited overs and one that is useful for both. Take Settling and Focus. You could say that Settling (higher confidence early on and gain confidence faster) is something that is useful for both formats. Focus (lose confidence slower) is potentially better for test matches. Now, throw in something like 'Composure' which could be increased confidence in the last 15 overs of an ODI or the last 5 overs of a T20 (there were similar perks in Cricket 19). This way you could have players branch down different routes to have slightly more unique performances and suitability to formats or circumstances.

Even better, in my opinion, if in career mode you level these up through achievement. For example, Composure might be leveled up through the following achievements:

Level 1: Be not out in a successful run chase
Level 2: Score a 50 in a successful run chase
Level 3: Score a 50 and be not out in a successful run chase
Level 4: Score a century in a successful run chase
Level 5: Score a century and be not out in a successful run chase

To add to that, if you had to continue to 'maintain' those levels by either achieving them every season or achieving a certain number to maintain a level.

You might have a limit of six levels across those three categories, so you could focus most of them on Composure to enhance your player in limited overs, focus on Focus for test matches or split them to have a more balanced player. Equally, you might decide to that instead of maintaining Composure and you sacrifice (lose) those levels and put them into Focus to improve your player's viability for test matches.

More deeply these sort of things could influence team selection and your opportunities in other tournaments. If you have low Composure you might not get much shot in T20 franchises for example.

You could do something similar for bowlers. Having new ball, powerplay, old ball, death overs proficiencies.

Agree with everything there. There's a lot of potential and I can't see how it's difficult to implement. Here's hoping...

It's 2025 where technology has grown up massively and AI helped a lot further in game development yet we are with cricket game industry with very low grade standards with game development. Its been a decade where I can't sit and play cricket games longer and have fun to play again and again.Just a hope from any big studios step and do justice for cricket games lol

Anyone found/have a good set of T20 sliders? Managed to create a custom league and enjoying it but the AI constantly hitting 200+ is frustrating . Obviously could lower run rate and increase wicket chance but just wondering if anyone has a set already.

Cheers

I've been playing around with inkscape to try and get all these retro logos and sponsors in the game to compliment waste's retro project but having a few troubles with quality and file sizes.

For example I was able to trace this old WA Warriors logo and then colour it but I can't import it in to the game because it's too big at 46kb so the best I can do it is import the traced version with no colour but it's a single layer in the logo creator so it's extremely difficult to navigate the controls to colour. How are you guys getting colourised, quality logos in to the game?

Left is the trace, centre is the .png and right is my coloured attempted that's too large.

Similarly I've tried to upload some logos that have lettering and the small spaces in between letters are filled in so it's solid colours, how would I go about removing that? I've sourced a few vectors of logos but a lot of what I want are .png and .dds from the old DBC games.

File size is irrelevant, number of nodes determines if you can upload (400 nodes is the max per logo)

This excellent Youtube channel has a video about it the other stuff.

Does bowling to a plan really work in the game? Sometimes I feel like whatever I do, the batting is going to hit a boundary or lose a wicket, and I’m never sure what impact I’m actually having (it might just be I’m not playing very well)

Never felt like this in 22 or 19

I’d actually argue it was even worse in 22 and 19. The last ball smash isn’t in 24.. but there’s scripting without any doubt

do we know if BA have acknowledged the bug with massive edges not being given out on appeal or overturned it you review it? Will it be fixed?
