This reaction is laughable. It's not his fault NZ are a poor Test outfit.

Well of course you're going to say that.

5th Test: England vs Australia at the Brit Oval

15 wickets in a day? Far too many, though it makes for enjoyable cricket so that isn't my complaint. My issue is with massive footholes on day 1, not good enough really. I wouldn't be too surprised if the ICC get involved and investigate, because the pitch is very close to being rated "poor."

Paranavitana needs to go if he doesn't score in the next Test. To fail twice against a poor Test side like NZ, at home, is not good enough if you want to succeed against better teams. He hasn't been in any danger of hitting a century in any of his six matches so far. Failure in the next Test...

Yeh he has, against Pakistan A. He was really impressive in those games. In the last, he scored 25* and 79*, the latter score he came in at No.4.

Hmm, difficult one. For me, I would say Kaushal Silva. He's a WK/batsman, which is ideal considering Jayawardene's batting is a bit suspect. He's been in the SL squad a few times, and he was in the T20 WC squad, but didn't play. He averaged over 50 in the club cricket competition, and over 60...

Yeh, but he's not good enough to hold that position, and nor is Prasanna Jayawardene. A good FC record is hugely different from Test, and some of that is boosted by club cricket, which is the main form of FC cricket in SL. He was immense in the Inter-Provincial tournament, which is a higher...

Certainly if Mathews is going to play. His batting is not yet good enough to hold a No.7 or No.6 position. The problem is that Dilshan and Sanga are both top order players. If Sanga struggles for form when keeping wicket, then Dilshan will do the same. The only alternative is to put...

That's what I was talking about with regard to lack of depth in batting. At the moment, SL don't have a good enough WK/batsman to be playing at No.6 to accomodate Angelo Mathews. And the tail is appalling.

Sri Lanka can still easily mess this first innings up. The batting is not very deep. Prasanna Jaywardene, as good a WK as he is, is not a great batsman at all. Mathews is OK, but still has a lot to learn and is in essence unproven still at Test level.

    Review Ashes Cricket 2009

Very good review. I don't think I'll be buying this. I've read far too many reports of problems with the game that I believe would annoy me immensely and as such I'd stop playing after a week or so. Not worth me shelling out ?30+ at the moment.

No way will he become another Kallis. He does have the potential to become a useful all-rounder (SL haven't had one of those for ages), but his bowling needs huge improvement. He hasn't been working on his bowling because of injuries, but now that he is proving a useful option I think he intends...

    Pakistan in Sri Lanka - Jul-Aug 2009

Kandamby won't ever be good enough to sustain a career at international level. Kapugedera needs to play Inter-Provincial cricket.

Steyn takes 8 wickets in 12 balls!

Tbf, there are known issues with the batting in Twenty20. The scores in these games are quite crazy on a regular basis. It has only come about because of an attempt to fix the previous issue - that of low scores and wickets falling far too often. I'm sure it will be sorted for the next version...

New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka, 2009

There's an article on Cricinfo that says if Australia do not win the remaining two Tests in the Ashes, South Africa will take No.1 spot. Regarding Mendis, he will certainly play. As Howsie said, Pakistan play him so well. It helps that they've seen a lot of him - more than any other side...

    Pakistan in Sri Lanka - Jul-Aug 2009

I still don't think he should be a regular in the squad. He needs to have a season playing in the Inter-Provincial tournament. It's only 4 games, but it's the highest standard of cricket in SL and he didn't play a single game last year. If he plays well there, then he should be considered.

    Current Best Test Country?

I voted India, but only because we haven't seen South Africa in India yet. Sri Lanka need to start performing better during tours.

Been to inconsistent for a while now (as Sanga hinted). Needs to start putting on good scores on a regular basis.

Third Test: Australia v England at Edgbaston

Another awful decision from England's 12th man.
