England A-Team tri series vs N Zealand & Sri Lanka

Indeed. Glad to see Henry and to an extent Sodhi bowl well in patches. Matt Henry is the big gun in this team for mine, I rate him up their with Southee and Boult. Special talent that's for sure, would love to see him in the test team before long. Wagner has been decent I suppose, but he's...

New Zealand Tour of West Indies May-July 2014

Nah, Mark Craig bowled well. Yes the Windies have a rather poor batting lineup but he made a few decent batsman look rather average. A lot was made of his first class bowling average before the match (it was 45) but that has more to do with the conditions in NZ domestic cricket not his ability...

I'd love to get your thoughts on Tim Southee nowadays mate :p

Henry yay, Milne nay. Henry is the better bowler, he has been dominating domestic cricket since he first came onto the scene. 135-140k, outswing, good line and length and a strong action. Looks a lot like Jason Gillespie I reckon, action wise. If he could stay healthy I'd have him in the test...

New Zealand in South Africa - Dec - Jan 2012/13

Martin wasn't New Zealand's best bowler in that first test, he was terrible, the most pedestrian fast bowling performance I've seen in a long time. He picked up a couple of declearation wickets but was next to useless otherwise. Wagner's terrible too but at least he can hold a bat.

New Zealand in South Africa - Dec - Jan 2012/13

Quality over quantity. Southee took 25 wickets @ 22, Boult 22 @ 30. Just because the likes of Anderson and Broad played twice as many matches over the course of the year shouldn't count against them.

New Zealand in South Africa - Dec - Jan 2012/13

Bowling records | Test matches | Cricinfo Statsguru | ESPN Cricinfo Since Boult and Bracewell debuted late last year New Zealand's pace bowling group has comfortably been the third best in the wolrd behind South Africa and Australia. With Southee out injured for this series though you...

New Zealand in South Africa - Dec - Jan 2012/13

Errr, no. Neesham's a proper all rounder, mid 130's with a little bit of away movement, with a ton of ability with the bat. He's raw, just like Anderson is, but the upside for both of them is massive. Both of them could easily be playing test cricket in 2/3 years batting at six or seven (or in...

Most importantly Southee would've finished with 8/45 instead :p Awesome stuff from the big fella though, nigh on untouchable during that spell.

    New Zealand's Tour Of India Aug-Sep 2012

Good start I suppose, Bracewell's been a little off but Southee and especially Boult were very good. I was reading an interveiw Peter McGlashan did on his retirement and he reckons Trent Boult is the best bowler he's seen in domestic cricket in his ten or so years - including Shane Bond...

    New Zealand's Tour Of India Aug-Sep 2012

What exactly did the bowlers do wrong during the first test? Not score enough runs perhaps because as a group they were more than good enough, as they have been over the last 12 months or so. I find it a little odd that in this point in time of New Zealand cricket, possibly our lowest in 15 or...

    T20 World Cup 2012

Haha, yep, sadly enough. I mean Kane Williamson as good as he is isn't a 20/20 batsmen whatsoever and yet he'll probably walk into this team, zero depth whatsoever. Daniel Flynn perhaps could've been picked just to have a left handed batsmen up the order but then.....

New Zealand Tour of the West Indies - June-August 2012

Wagner will need to fix that seam position if he wants to have consistent success at the test level. He's good with the old ball getting it to reverse but from what I've seen of him over the last few years he's a pretty average new ball bowler. Still behind Trent Boult as the total package IMO...

Williamson expecting short captaincy role - Latest Cricket News - Keep up with Newstalk ZB Tough gig, makes him New Zealand's youngest captain by quite a fair distance I believe (Fleming was almost 24 when he got the job). Hopefully they give him the entire one day series, really don't see...

South Africa tour of New Zealand, Feb-March 2011/12

Vettori's not much of a test bowler anymore though, that's the problem. What's the use of a guy batting at six who averages 30 with the bat and 50 with the ball? He's not really bringing anything to the team. I love Daniel Vettori, always have and always will, but I get the feeling playing as a...

South Africa tour of New Zealand, Feb-March 2011/12

Yeah, while Flynn has opened in the past you'd think it would make sense to bat him in the middle order and just move McCullum back up (Where he's wanted to bat for years now).

South Africa tour of New Zealand, Feb-March 2011/12

Vettori has to bat in the top six though, he isn't good enough with the ball to play as a bowling all rounder anymore.
