Welcome back to all and sundry.

Yes, it's the return of the AOTF vs. Bladescape.
Except, instead of the Sri Lankans, We're using the NZealanders and we're upgrading to 09 as well.

So, time to get rolling and see what the future has in store.

Next time:
Fixture's and first tour's squad........See ya all there!

Could be a tough assignment- in my experience with NZ on ICC09 they're pretty damn weak. That could just be me, but I seemed to do better with Bangladesh than New Zealand...

Anyway, good luck, I enjoyed your last story so will be following this one.

No, your right, NZ is going to be a challenge, I see us losing quite a few matches.

I don't know why you'd ever pick Peter Fulton for a T20 world cup...
However he'll probably score the most runs in the tournament now and put me in my place.

Fulton's not too bad at T20 I don't think. I remember him hitting the ball around quite a bit in the shorter forms of the game. Jamie How's an interesting choice, I would've gone for Redmond personally, but they're equally good I suppose. And Warren McSkimming's another interest choice.

Good luck guys :) Not gonna take sides but I hope you do well with NZ :D

Yeah, maybe. It's a debate that doesn't belong here but I just think he's good at most forms at first class level, not so much at international level. There are heaps of other batsmen I'd pick before him.

Anyway, good luck guys. I remember your Lankan battle story - was there a winner?

I didn't count it up, but I think I had one or two matches on AOTF!:p

T20 World Cup match 1 vs. Scotland:

B.McCullum(wk)
J.Ryder
R.Taylor
G.Elliott
J.Oram
S.Styris
D.Vettori(c)
J.Franklin(2)
S.Bond(1)

Scotland:
D.Watts
K.Coetzer
N.McCallum
R.Watson
C.Wright
N.Poonia
C.Smith
J.Stander
J.Blain
J.Nel
G.Drummond

Toss:
NZ won and we're bowling

Match:
Scotland:119/8 in 20 overs
Watts 35(21)
Smith 35*(44)

Tuffey 4/19(4 overs)
Franklin 2/34(4 overs)

New Zealand:121/4 in 14.3 overs
Ryder 62*(39)
Elliott 20(20)

Blain 2/25(4 overs)
Nel 1/20(2 overs)

Result:
NZ win the match by 6 wickets.

MOTM:
Daryl Tuffey(4/19)

Comments:
Watts opened up blazing, even while partners fell to Bond and Franklin.
Tuffey came on,opened up the floodgates and in the end only Smith really offered any resistence, althouth he would have scored a whole lot faster if it wasn't for Vettori's 0/13 from 4 overs.

McCullum and How were dissappointing and it looked like a complete collapse around Ryder at 3/31.
Then Elliott and Oram sat back and watched Ryder do his thing!!
Excellent win, although my openers form worries me.

I've generally found Fulton quite good in T20 and ODI,it's test I'll be a bit nervous playing him.
I haven't had a very good result trying that in my experience.

New Zealand 118/3

Nel 1-22

Scotland 85/10

Poonia 23
Coetzer 20

Franklin 3-22
Bond 3-26

Result: New Zealand win by 33 runs

Reaction: I have a strong feeling I'm in trouble when I face tougher teams. Only managing 118 with so many wickets in hand was a worry. Same with Blades, both my openers failed, making 4 and 1. Good job to Ryder and Talor, although neither where hitting at a great SR. Full credit to my bowlers though, they made defending a small target easy. Both Oram and Franklin bowled brilliantly in there opening spell, taking the opening 5 wickets. With the top order demolished, the tail was easy pickings for Bond and Vettori.
