India's emphatic win has set up group B. If England beat WIndies they are through however if West Indies win it is down to NRR.

Just did a rough calculation in case England bat first and make 200 W Indies would need to win the match in 17 overs to qualify ... I d leave the rest of the math to gougie and lonewolf.. good luck both of u expect nothing short of a cracker.
Both players check NRR if there are any errors please point out as no changes would be made once u both have started your game. Your NRR has been calculated as
England=(737/87.1)-(522/92.5)=2.82
West Indies=(559/74.5)-(447/86.2)=2.32

gougie and lonewolf both are online right now unfortunately lonewolf cant play today. lonewolf please decide on a mutual time with gougie on the forum.. game needs to be completed by Tuesday so we can have the semi final's and finals by friday

Great job group A in completing your games.
Group B we are still left with 3 games which have to be completed by Tuesday so we can have the semi finals Wednesday onwards. Eflindor please provide a time for tomorrow or Tuesday to complete our games. Same goes for lonewolf and gougie.

Couple of ideas for the latter half of the tourney:
1. Best of 3 finals.
2. Eflindor, jaynffc and psymax would you like to have a plate semi final and final that way we can have complete standings at the end and can use them as seedings for future tourneys plus it keeps all 8 participants involved till the end.
3. For the Semis I suggest
a) we use Lords as the venue. Conditions: overcast and day 5 with the team finishing higher in group stage hosting the game.
b) Have 2 games on home and away basis with NRR for the games being used in case both teams win 1 game each.

Mmm..I don't mind Lords as the venue, but I disagree with the conditions, Overcast and Day 5 Pitch, In my opinion it should be Clear and Day 1 pitch.

But i suppose the 4 semi finalists can vote on this. Both for Venue and Conditions.

I agree with the day 5 wicket, gives the spinners abit of a chance, and weather conditions i dont mind any, i probably wont get to the finals, but if i do these are just my thoughts on it.

I too like a 3-5 day wicket better than a first day pitch. No problem with overcast conditions either.

finally played the game with gougie

Match : England v WI
Venue : Auckland

WI : 81 all out in 17 overs
Eng : 86 for 2 in 9 overs

Match report : On an overcast day WI won the toss and chose to bat first
As expected Eng stuck earlier with Harmisson taking first 3 wickets and WI score at 13/3
England never looked back from there and kept the pressure on taking wickets at regular intervals.The surprise of the day came with spinner Swann who took 4/25 which eventually gave him MOM.There was a time when WI were 80/8 and did not score for 15 consecutive balls,excellent display of fast bowling.
England in reply started bad with score at 1/0 but then they sent in pinch hitter Anderson who scored a quick 18 runs breaking shackles.
the rest was done by Strauss(35*) and Pieterson(26*).

Congrats lonewolf I am quite surprised gougie chose to bat first considering NRR would come into play had he won. So India, England, Pakistan and New Zealand qualify for the semi's. Just need to get my games with Eflindor to decide who qualifies in 1st position in Group B. Have messaged him a few times but he has been keeping busy of late hopefully can get my 2 games with him either tomorrow or day after.

The finals and semi finals would be played at Lords day 5 wicket and overcast conditions. Final would be best of 3.

Still awaiting a confirmation from gougie, psymax, jaynffc and eflindor if they want to contest the plate semi finals.

Great, so we just got to wait for the results of India vs Australia to confirm which team plays who in the Semi's, India need to win just one of the two games to top the group which looks highley probable.

So the Semi's will (most probably):

Pakistan VS England

India VS New Zealand

(lol wouldnt it be ironic, if Pak and Ind were to get in the final of our first T20 tourney, just as Pak and Ind got in the finals of the first T20 Tourney in reality)
