Woooooakes!
If it is indeed true that it’s purely due to religious reasons, I don’t blame him. But why didn't he seek an exemption instead of sitting out? Surely CSA would grant him a religious exemption. The De Kock debate:
1) Christianity dictates one shall bend no knee (not going into depth irt this)
2) Initially it was a players choice to either do it or not. De Kock chose not to do it against Australia ... CSA then unforced bending the knee taking away his freedom of choice.
De Kock I feel personally have no issues irt the BLM campaign. Like most we all condemn discrimination against any race.
I personally feel it's got to do with both him being a devoted Christian and CSA dictating to players to bend the knee that made him withdrew against WI.
Poor guy ... Imagine having to chose between playing for your Country or standing up for your values. No athlete needs to be put in such a situation ...
Guess we'll find out in due timeDo Bangladesh have much batting depth? I'm a relative newcomer to the sport.
We do not know if he did and it wasn't granted. There isn't enough information out there to suggest that he straight up just chose to sit out and didn't even try to request an exemption for himself. If it is indeed true that it’s purely due to religious reasons, I don’t blame him. I'm not religious but still learned a bit at school. I remember Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. Did he get them to lie on their backs with their feet in the air? I also remember Jesus would show solidarity with the oppressed and marginalised. I don't remember the bits where he'd find any excuse not to.If it is indeed true that it’s purely due to religious reasons, I don’t blame him.
