2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup - Australia

Shakib post match: We lost but we have learned a lot of things from the match. We will use this knowledge to lose our future matches we should have won with even more precision :)

Gotta feel for you mate. I hope things change in your cricket setup and we see a good side that can handle pressure and win more soon.

Me too man. But this perpetual suicidal giant slaying has been going on for as long as I've been following cricket. I guess you can't wake someone up if they aren't actually asleep :)

There's no reason to argue that Bangladesh would have fared better without rain as some on social media are doing currently. You take Litton and Afif out and they'd still lose arguably even more handily without a wet ball helping. The only pro argument I can see is that they would have felt less pressure on themselves but that is self-inflicted rather than anything else.

There needs to be a proper coaching setup at senior level with some levelheadedness and calm/mature leaders in key positions. I don't think Papon and Shakib qualify for the latter. Mashrafe was bloody good at his role and daresay I think they'd have won today if they had his calming presence in the tournament as skipper. They need to promote a winning culture where said giant slaying isn't something to worship but a regular occurence. Mahmudullah seemed more to be in the Mashrafe mold early on but he started becoming increasingly lost and bizarre with his decisions as time went on and he lost his form. Getting a good coach has to be a start IMO. There needs to be more skill camps or whatever it is to help players transition to senior level properly, Shanto is a domestic bully but looks clueless out here except on few occasions. You can't rely on the old school technique of 'learn by trade' anymore that the generation of Tamim, Shakib and Mushi did with years of international exposure.

Well played rain. India snatched victory from the jaws of defeat via some mindless batting by Bangladesh and some luck favouring India. The positive has been the catching. After having a bad day in the field the other day, this makes up for it. Just goes to show how a good fielding side invariably start with a 10% advantage.

India will win this tournament. Too many things going their way for it to be a coincidence. Just a gut feeling.
Oh boy! No no.. We're likely to play NZ in Adealade and will bow out

If Zimbabwe upsets us in MCG, and two wins for Pakistan actually can open a door for them too. NRR are almost neck and neck.

Preferring Ashwin over Chahal is a big mistake India is making. I feel like England is winning this worldcup.

As i said, if margins keep going India’s way like this, they will finally end their 9-year trophy drought.

Adelaide is infact one of those happy hunting grounds for the subcontinent teams where the surface is generally flat and there are lot of big scores.

More so this is the ground where Kohli have always done well. Following are his individual milestones achieved over here-

  1. First Test Century
  2. First 2 Test Hundreds as Captain
  3. A century in both innings of a Test match
  4. A century against Pakistan in 2015 WC
  5. Scored 90* v/s Australia in a T20I in 2016
  6. Scored a century against Australia in an ODI in 2019
From India's POV, they've won a Test match over here in 2003/04 so also in 2018. They played only one T20I back in 2016 against Australia which they won.

So a lot of factors that fall in India's favour. Yes India did get bowled out on 36 in 2020 and Bangladesh did experience an all-time high of knocking England out of World Cup in 2015. So I am not rubbing off a possibility of an upset but I am confident of an Indian win tomorrow. (Yes we lost to South Africa but every prediction doesn't come right)

Hopefully, rain stays away!
Bruh back in the day when I was an ardent Anti-Indian fan the SCG was like a sub continent pitch, slow spin friendly. Oh my how times have changed!
