Agree, unless crowd crosses the line by physically hurting them. But defending it by saying Pak fans did it too is also stupid.

It's probably why PCB wanted to move it out of Ahmedabad. If you're saying Pak should have expected crowd hostility, I could say India also should have expected it in those previous instances
I am not justify anything over here.

My point is India Pakistan matches these things do happen every now and then you, me or any other can call it disappointing which is actually the case.

But you can't stop such things from happening especially where a lot of venom is spread through social media.

My point is if you guys are suprised then don't be there have been such instances in the India Pakistan cricket for ages now.

This might not look good and can be distributing as well mentally.

Honestly, there’s been many India-Pakistan matches in UAE and England with Pakistani fans in attendance, there were no religious chants recorded, otherwise the media would have talked about it for sure.
Nor is there any such thing recorded in India's tours to Pakistan in the mid-2000s, they’re always spoken of positively.
Off the field, religious extremism is definitely a problem, but I haven’t seen that problem in Pakistani fans in the stadium

I don’t mind the booing or even the partisan crowd reaction to any setback the Indian side had. But that’s also because I wouldn’t mind it coming from the Pakistani fanbase where they’re the majority too. I’m also pretty sure that those who were saying “well it’s a rivalry, get used to it” on r/cricket and social media would be the first ones crying about a lack of respect if this was the reaction from anyone else.

The chanting in the second innings to me was in poor taste. The justification I saw on r/cricket for it boiled down to “this is how it is in football, it’s even worse there” which is a cop-out. I’ll also repeat what I said on discord, some of this crowd reaction feels arranged by the powers be.

What chanting? "Jai Shree Ram"? Sorry I didnt care enough to watch the game, just checked the scores.

I saw a social media video circulating where the crowd is singing "Jai Shree Ram". But they were singing along with the DJ who was playing the song "Jai Shree Ram" from the recent Bollywood movie Adipurush. Fair enough coz when DJ plays songs and the crowd is in Ahmedabad, they naturally sing along if they like the song.

I don’t have a problem with booing, it’s part and parcel of sporting rivalries.
I do have a problem with religious slogans being yelled at players in a hostile manner, because they seek to provoke religious conflict and demonstrate religious superiority.
There’s been much hue and cry about Mohammad Rizwan's religious beliefs, and his expressing his beliefs in a press conference or saying a small prayer on the field. But he doesn’t seek to enforce his beliefs on anyone, nor to cause religious conflict.
And about Arthur's statement, I believe he was referring to Pakistani fans not being allowed and no music or Pakistani songs being played when we got boundaries or wickets, which is a true and fair thing to point out, even if it’s obviously not a reason for defeat @Gaurav_7
I discussed this with a friend last month that crowds in Ahmedabad won't be good and some Religious sentiments will hurt.

They did the same think to Mohammed Shami during Gujarat Titans game too and as I said these propaganda are spread in thr BJP ruled state.

I hope players are safe and not much problems bare caused.

Wait... Was Shami physically assaulted during that Gujarat Titans game in Ahmedabad? He plays for the home franchise of Ahmedabad in the IPL. If Ahmedabad was so religiously intolerant, they would not have picked someone like Shami.

P.s: I think this discussion is getting political and I would love to add more to it, but I wish this could be moved to another thread!

I think the players will be safe, they've been praising hospitality and security, and been welcomed very well.
I just hope such propaganda is kept away

There was one chant that translated into “we’re your fathers” that even r/cricket found borderline offensive despite being entirely India driven.

Ah, the old Sehwag/Akhtar toxic trash

Oh. That I agree is 'offensive' and I wouldn't support that!

But heckling happens everywhere. Our crowds have been criticized for racially mocking Andrew Symonds in the past. England/Australia racially target brown players from the subcontinent when they play in those countries. We live in an imperfect world.

I personally dont agree when a player gets riled up by a religious chant. C'mon - players have to develop thicker skins if they react like that!
