Lot of talk of how NZ shouldn't qualify as they haven't beaten any big teams. The format of this World Cup is such that you need to beat the weaker ones in order to stand a chance.

The league structure is often criticized for this loophole. In fact, it is the very same that won Pakistan the World Cup in 1992. So, those who bemoan about them not having gotten a semi spot (until now) should look towards 1992 as well.

Would be interesting to have a Champions Trophy in T20 format and England not be in it as current champions.

Then how do you justify the fact that the Flagship 50 over event is being used as a qualification arena for a T20 CT?

If the CT is to be in the T20 format, the Top 8 of the 2022 event should make it.

England have been horrendous and if Pakistan bat first (provided they even win the toss) on a ground like eden gardens, flat, dry, small boundaries and score 400...then restrict England to 100 its all over for NZ.

I’m not saying NZ don’t deserve it, but was just pointing out that head-to-head would get Pakistan to the semis. And Afghanistan will likely end 2 points behind the other two.
If more than one team ends on the same points, you look at the points they got against each other, and then the NRR they have against each other.
