I think, no way they will play SKY as first choice. He is 4th choice for spots 4-5, behind Rahul, Iyer, Kishan

Tamim’s put out a statement it seems. Pretty damning one for the BCB.
Shakib also countered on an interview recently. He basically called Tamim selfish for refusing to play down the order. Saying stuff like: "An unfit player is only playing against the Team", "The management had already decided that it would be best if Tamim batted lower down", "Tamim is only holding onto his bat like a child and not thinking about the team" etc

At this point this is basically playing out like a Bollywood movie script. Our performance is already concerning, and then stuff like these keeps happening even 7 days before the WC kicks off. So According to Bollywood rules Tamim is going to return mid world cup after the team has lost a few matches in a row, score 2 double hundreds, and take Bangladesh to the finals vs India, where Shakib will sacrifice himself to give the strike to Tamim before getting run out, And Tamim will hit the last ball for the six required to make us undisputed world champions, leading to the conclusion where Shakib and Tamim finally hug it out like brothers as the whole stadium goes crazy celebrating our ultimate glory (Virat Kohli was the real villain all along btw) That's definitely what's going to happen and no one can't convince me otherwise.

What I don't understand about all of this is - Tamim wanted to retire. Then was forced to un-retire from the WC because of the Prime Minister and instead take a holiday. Then got a back injury and had to take an injection allowing him to play. Team Management wanted him to play in the middle order and he refused (fair enough for a guy who hasn't ever batted in any other position than as an opener). Then he gets left out because of the injury and Shakib kicks off and blames him for not being a team player.

Why play him if you know he is fully fit from the start?

Plus, this whole series with NZ was a joke. There was literally no shining light in the entire series at home! You got out-bowled by both the seamers and the spinners and no one stepped up in the batting division either.

Be interesting to see if Bangladesh set it up in the WC.

Happy to see Ashwin there. With a waning Jadeja, Ashwin's inclusion seems fair enough. Although @Bevab would disagree on this

Not exactly. I just don’t see the point of Ashwin when Sundar’s better than him at this stage in their careers. Nor do I see him as a Jadeja replacement (even if Jadeja’s form hasn’t been great) but he did show in the Aussie series that he can be adequate. I just hope he isn’t selected in the XI because we need batting cover at eight over a better bowler.

It’s bizarre that they wanted Tamim to bat down the order as he’s one of the slowest starters left in ODI cricket and even when he’s got his eye in he’s usually going at just above a run a ball. It makes even less sense when there’s not a single Bangladeshi opener in form or good enough on paper either. I did say a few months ago that Tamim’s form was poor and there would be questions over his place if he wasn’t captain so I’m not sure why they wanted to bat an out of form legend away from his natural position in a role that doesn’t even suit his play style?

It’s also extremely rich of Shakib to throw around words like selfish and not being a team player when the bloke has skipped multiple tours and games and has been involved in numerous disciplinary issues. He may have been poorly treated by BCB too but he has plenty of skeletons in his own closet.

Does anyone know if the games tomorrow will be televised?

I know they are being played behind closed doors.

Looking at some of Shakib’s comments on Tamim, they reek of bitterness. The latter has till now not spoken of Shakib or targeted any individual, he’s only expressed his feelings towards the actions of an organisation. On the other hand Shakib has been piling on Tamim at every opportunity possible recently.
