Melinda Farrell offering us all a dose of common sense

It's the absolute lack of atmosphere for a World Cup match that's the problem. Not the spectator count

Also I think it's got to do with the fact that this stadium is in Ahmedabad/Gujarat. I highly doubt folks there would be as excited for a neutral game (even with cricketing heavyweights) as compared to spectators in cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, etc. It's the difference between being a cricket fan and an Indian cricket fan that is also at play here. Which brings forth the question asked above - did a city like Ahmedabad warrant such a huge stadium (if we look beyond the political chest thumping aspect)

Some of the comments I’m seeing elsewhere on this are laughable really.

“Oh why don’t they take a holiday for a major global sporting event? We in England and Australia do that”
I think they were talking about School Holidays (?) but in Australia case it's not true.

If the ICC and all cricket boards for once come together and boycott the BCCI for a year. The cows will come home. But it will never happen!

Problem is ICC wont survive. Cows will never come home (do not know what that means).

I remember how empty the Aussie grounds were for Australia's matches in the last T20 WC too.
CA actions showing it's result - BBL on Ten was growing, 80k fans showed up for Stars v Gades! People wanted more local & international stars. CA: ALL I CAN DO IS EXTEND THE SEASON! CA 2.0: SHORT TERM MONEY >>> LONG TERM GAIN! Fu*k Ten, Love Fox.

BCCI on the other hand is shit at another level - No E-Ticket, schedule announced late AF, changes in the schedule, stadium experience is still in the 19th century. Shit experience for the locals, hell for the international fans.

Wood + Chris Swing Merchant getting spanked :')
