22 Degrees of David Gower

@Yash. missed his time, so I am next.

Alastair Cook is my next pick.

I pick Sanath Jayasuriya to open alongside Bob Simpson.

I'll go for the Hampshire connection, with Gordon Greenidge, a man who made a mockery of Gower's declaration at Lords in 1984 can open with his county partner Barry Richards.

@Aislabie is next. @Yash. still has a pick from a couple of rounds ago, unless i missed it, and @qpeedore also has a late pick.

I'm going to bend/break the rules here and go with Stephen Fleming. Always enjoyed seeing the guy bat. I'm sure that he must have a couple degrees from Gower, but my reason for picking him is that he shares the same birthday with the man (but different years of course). Go on, tell me he's invalid. I dare you. :p

:eng: :bat: Ken Barrington

6,806 runs @ 58.67 (20 centuries, best 256) in 82 Test matches

Ken Barrington is a bit of a forgotten legend, but the man averaged over 75 while batting at number three in Test matches. It's impossible to overlook that kind of greatness, and yet I was so sure you all would that I was perfectly happy to wait until Round Six before picking him up. Absolute monster of a batsman.

I legitimately do not have a clue if I have a missed pick here. Can someone please fill me in?
