24 Feb - South Africa vs West Indies

Now that Tahir has proven himself. I wonder if SA will now drop Peterson in their main XI for another batsman preferably Van Wyk or Ingram. Since with Tahir/Botha as the main spinners, they would still have fairly competent part-time spin options from Dumminy & FAF.

Sad for the windies though, losing alot of key players. They could seriously not make the QF stage if DW Bravo is ruled out.

I do not think I can get through another match of West Indies if Devon Thomas is keeper. Most annoying keeper ever. Doesn't shut up and says the same thing over and over again.

I will trade him for Kamran Akmal any day of the week.

Let's not get so far ahead of ourselves here. Tahir has had one match and one good performance. Let him play a few more games before he can say we has proven himself.

Yeah I agree. Anyone remember another certain spinner who got 4 on debut? Yeah that's Doherty, with his 100+ test average

Although you can never judge a player after just 1 game. The reason i said "he has now proven himself" is because i heard before the tournament some sharing some odd pessimism towards his bowling @ international level.

I personally have never doubted his ability @ international level after seeing him unleash his bag of tricks in English domestic cricket, so that "prove yourself" doesn't apply to me.

Doherty & Tahir aren't comparable in any way.

Watched quite a bit of Tahir at domestic level in England, he's a very good leg spinner. He'll be around for a long time, very good cricketer, he's got street smart.

Indeed. I'd be surprised if anyone who saw him bowl in England bowl in recent years, has ever doubted his ability to step up at international level.

Tahir has proven himself in SA and England domesticly.

Tahir averages 25 in first class cricket and 23 in list a.

Doherty averages 50 in first class cricket and 29 in list a.

They comparable at all.

The only question about imran was whether he could adjust to the pressure of international cricket but so far so good. I am very excited to have him playing for us, he just needs to get of the wicket quicker.
