3Mobile - Old Generation League | Champions ???

Its obvious that the league is 50 overs...we can't see ODI legends play just few ball and bowl few overs

@Mr Nokkaya
I was about to post the squad when I saw that I was just the co-manager of West Indies present.
Dude, I asked you to make me the manager of the team, not the co-manager !! :noway

Please reply me stating that, whether you wish me to become the manager or else I would have to reconsider my decision to be part of this league.

You'd better read the whole goddamn post! Took me nearly and hour to complete it.

Bradman, Miller, Spofforth & Lindwall have been selected despite never playing ODIs. They were simply too awesome to not succeed in any given era and format of cricket. And Spofforth can bat a bit. He's batted in Australia's middle-order a few times and even has a half-century from No 11. An average of 9 or 10 in the 1870s & 1880s was pretty good because the pitches were mostly crap.

Hayden is likely to play as Mark Waugh's backup despite his inflated average. Apart from that unbelievable run glut towards the end of his career, he wasn't exactly an ODI legend. But then he mercilessly hammered everyone in the '07 World Cup and turned into one all of a sudden.

And don't any of you under-rate the Waughs. Both Mark and Steve have awesome World Cup records which shows how effective they can be in big tournaments. Mark Waugh's record as an opener is phenomenal to say the least and even better than Hayden's. The numbers are there for you to see :-

Steve Waugh ODI batting stats

Mitchell Johnson was also as deserving as any to make the squad. We've all seen what he's done to England & South Africa recently and he's been a very good ODI bowler for Australia. And no one, not even legends except one Sir Viv Richards are comfortable facing that ball coming in at 150+ kph so regularly. I could've gone for Jeff Thomson given that he bowled up to 160 ks, but his ODI and limited overs records were not impressive enough.

And I don't think anyone here needs an introduction to Ponting, Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Chappell, Lillee, Lee, Symonds or the brilliant ODI finishers that are Michael Bevan & Michael Hussey. They basically pick themselves in any Australian limited overs squad.

So, pretty much everyone in this squad has the courage & ability to face up to those Windies fasties and hopefully come out on top. And Bradman faced Bodyline and still emerged at the top of the run charts. That's the most brutal kind of bowling a player can EVER face. Larwood, Tate & Voce bowled at a pretty good pace too. Hopefully that should get y'all doubters to shut your traps.

The Don will be our skipper. He led the 1948 Invincibles without losing a singe game, including the 20-odd FC matches played on that tour. Plus he's the best cricketer to ever emerge from Australia and statistically the best batsman of all time.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be a smartass or anything. Okay, maybe I am but the reason I posted this is because the last time @Mr Nokkaya managed a legends/old players league, his ratings didn't convince me at all. I'm simply trying to help out so that doesn't happen again, at least not with my team.

legends team can pick players till 2003 and Present shall pick from 2004 till present only

@ea ragav - get Ryan ten Doeschate and Tom Cooper in there. They're Dutch and too good to leave out. Check out the European Continentals in this list where there are a lot of good players who qualify for certain lesser known countries.

Why? An average of almost 40, more than 100 wickets, batting s/r of over 90 and supreme fielding ability were not good enough for you?

I am not saying he is bad, but not in the same league with some of the others players whom you didnt pick.

Allan Border, Dean Jones, Jason Gillespie, Darren Lehmann, Craig Mcdermott should have got into the squad ahead of Symonds.

Can we pick players who retired in say 2008,2012 or something in legendary team if they have made their debut before 2003?
