Sheedy resigns
Today the football public was in shock as AFL legend Kevin Sheedy called it quits as the coach of the Essendon Football Club. Sheedy has been in the coaching business for over 25 years and has decided to put an end to it after the 2006 season. Sheedy also played 251 games for the Richmond Football Club and has been a true ambassador for the game in Australia and around the world, especially within the Australian aboriginal community. It is unknown what Sheedy has planned for the future but there has been speculation that he will try his hand in politics or go for another coaching role or mentoring role at a football club. A new coach for Essendon in season 2007 will be announced in the coming days.

After the shock announcment of Kevin Sheedy quitting the Essendon Football Club it was today announced who will take his spot. Former Essendon great Mark Harvey was selected from a large number of applicants to take the top job. Harvey has had some coaching experience, being the Essendon assisstant coach from 1998 to 2005, when he moved to Fremantle for the 2006 season. His dream has today come true, and has told the press he is very happy to get the job and hopes to take Essendon back to the top.
