Round 2: Fremantle vs Hawthorn @ Subiaco Oval- Saturday, March 29th

Fremantle knock off reigning premiers at home

1st Quarter - The first quarter was all Fremantle. They enjoyed playing their footy out their in the first quarter, and they worked hard to get the footy. 5.6 in the first quarter, when they are already leading by 5 goals, those 6 behinds don't seem that bad, but some of the gettable shots would of hurt Hawthorn, and Freo could be 8-9 goals in front. Matthew Pavlich was dangerous in the forward line, as he kicked the fist goal of the match, and then slooted another 4 minutes later, to give the Dockers a 39 point lead at quarter time.
Fremantle: 5.6. (41)
Hawthorn: 0.2. (2)

2nd quarter - The second quarter was again one by the Dockers. The linked up well with handballs and kicked it long down to the likes of Bradley and Pavlich in the forward line. Matthew Pavlich again in that quarter proved difficult in the air and on the ground for Campbell Brown, as he kicked another 2 goals, taking his total for the night to 4 before half time. 5.4 from the Dockers to the Hawks who finally kicked their first goal kicking 3 for the quarter. Matty Pavlich kicked the first goal of the 2nd quarter, but then it was his opponent, Campbell Brown was taken off the dangerous forward, and went up forward himself and slotted home the first for the Hawks. Ben McGlynn quickly followed with a answer, but then it was Pavlich who answered again with his 4th goal of the game. The Dockers taking the lead out too 47 points at the half time break.
Fremantle: 10.10. (70)
Hawthorn: 3.5. (23)

3rd quarter - Lance "Buddy" Franklin got the Hawks back in the match in the third quarter. Buddy let loose and was unstoppable kicking 3 goals for the term, including a big bomb from outside 50. Hawthorn kicked 5 goals in the quarter to peg the margin back, and to make this last quarter all but more exciting. It has been a battle of the forwards in this match, and it's looking to be a shoot out. Matthew Pavlich for the Dockers who was kept quiet in that third term only kicking one more goal taking his total to 5 for the night. While Buddy got back to his best kicking 3 goals, taking his total for 4 for the night. The fourth quarter will be exciting with the Dockers leading by 31 points
Fremantle: 12.13. (85)
Hawthorn: 8. 6. (54)

4th quarter - The Fremantle Dockers finished off the last quarter off strongly to record a very comfortable 50 point win against the reigning premiers from 08 in Hawthorn. 4 goals in the last quarter, to a solidry one goal from the Hawks, see the Dockers put it out of reach from the Hawks point of view. It was a battle between the big men up forward, as Fremantle hero, Matthew Pavlich kicked 6 goals, while Chris Tarrant who played full back last weekend, went forward thjis weekend and finished the match off well with 3 goals to his name playing a big part in the win for the Dockers. Daniel Gilmore played a very good role on the Hawks younster/speedster in Cyril Rioli. Rioli has been classed as a potential star, but Gilmore done a wonderful job.

Well done mate, great win. Unexpected one i should say, Hawthorn were clearly favourites. Pavlich has a blinder, grabbing 31 possies and 6 goals, One of the best forwards in the comp. Out classed everyone else on the field. Love the story mate keep it up.

Round 3: West Coast vs Fremantle - Western Derby @ Subiaco Oval- Saturday, April 5th

1st Quarter - The first quarter started very free flowing. The first 5 minutes have been up and down the ground continously. Not one team has broken the shackle's yet. It is very hard to find a team mate in such a conjested area. Aaron Sanidlands did some crumbing in his own forward 50 to finally break through and kick a behind, but that was measured by a poor effort from Jaymie Graham up the other end whose shot on goal from playing on went out on the full. But from that kick in for the Dockers, Josh Keenedy swooped onto the ball and slotted home the first goal of the afternoon for the Eagles.

It was a hard fought contest at it took 6 minutes for the first goal to be kicked, but with Chris Tarrant moving back down into the forward line after having that one match tried in the full back area, Tarrant converted the first for the Dockers from just 25 metres out from a slight angle kicking in play. The score was back to level.

Back to back goals for the Eagles to Ashley Hansen who slotted a goal from 40 after taking a strong contested mark against 4 other blokes, and then another goal soonly followed by Nicholas Naitanui who took a strong mark just 15 metres in front of goal, and kicked truly for the Eagles third for the match, as they get a slender lead before the quarter time break.
Kepler Bradley has had a good first term, and finished it off with a wonderful goal on the quarter time siren right on the paint of the 50, to bring back the margin to 7 points at the quarter time siren, with the Eagles leading.

A exciting first quarter comes to an end, and all players would be wanting a breather. It's a physical contest out in the middle at the moment, as derby's always are. Players are finding it hard to find a target in such a conjestion. But it's free flowing, and both teams are setting up their forward attacks from their defence.

Second Quarter - The second quarter didn't show us much different from the first. A lot of hard work done by both teams, ecspecially from their midfield's. Both team's were playing some good football which is what you expect in a game like this. Fremantle however did pull out the better side kicking 3.3 to the Eagles 2.5.. West Coast were inaccurate in front of goal throughout that quarter which might be the different at the end of the match.

It was the two big boys for the Dockers that got them going in the second quarter, Just 52 seconds into the quarter, Fremantle won it out of the ruck, went forward and found Chris Tarrant in the right forward pocket taking a mark on the lead. A very slight angle, from 30 out Tarrant kicks his second for the match which put the Docker's in front.
Their superstar Matthew Pavlich after kicking 2 behinds for the match finally found his mark, when he took a slender mark and kicked his first for the match from 40 out giving the Dockers back to back goals, as they hit the front.
But the Eagles answered with 2 quick goals of their own when Josh Kennedy kicked truly for his second, and with Beau Waters charging through the pack after a boundary throw in, chucked the ball onto his boot and kicked a goal, it was back to level begging.
But the quarter finished off just like the first did, with Fremantle getting the last laugh, with Tarrant kicking his 3rd of the half.

Wow. A very even game at halftime. I like how you are making it a bit more detailed, including all of the quarter stats and showing how the match pans out - I try to do that in my story, as I feel it gives the reader more to look forward to, rather than just looking at numbers.

A close contest so far - shaping up to be a true Western derby. Neither side is kicking straight, although Fremantle are probably lucky they aren't behind by a goal or two.

Chris Tarrant is playing quite nicely for the Dockers, kicking 3 goals. It looks like Nic Nac is playing well for the Eagles as well, as he has hardly played any senior footy. (Makes me wonder whether we should've drafted him now :D).

I think West Coast will just get over the line here against Fremantle, but it should be a close game. My tip - West Coast by 7.

Keep up the excellent work. :clap

Its a tight match, but reckon the Eagles will get over the line, like the story mate, keep it up :clap

Round 3: West Coast vs Fremantle - Western Derby @ Subiaco Oval- Saturday, April 5th

3rd Quarter - The West Coast Eagles had the better of the Dockers in the third quarter, Kicking into the strong breeze, West Coast kicked 7 goals to the Dockers 3 in the third quarter to have a 23 point lead leading into the last break. Kennedy has been on fire right from the word go this afternoon, kicking his 4th major, while Beau Waters has torn up the midfield, while charging into the forward 50 and letting off 2 wonderful goals just outside 50. It was all the Eagles in that quarter, as they piled the goals through, while the Dockers got one back with Tarrant kicking his 4th. Matty Pavlich joined him as a multiple goal scorer kicking his second, but they didn't have too many friends up in the forward line, as only Ibbotson and Bradley have found the sticks today. So a 23 point lead going into the last quarter, the Dockers do however have the breeze in the last.

Luke McPharlin from the Dockers came off the ground and looked pretty dazed in a collison involving Eagles Darren Glass, but came back onto the ground just before the third quarter siren, and all things seem ok with him.

Three Quarter time
West Coast: 12. 9. 81
Fremantle: 8. 10. 58

Top Possesions: Johnson -23, Bradley -21, McPharlin -18, Crowley 17
Best Players: Bradley, Johnson, Tarrant, Pavlich, McPharlin, Crowley

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4th quarter - Fremantle had the wind in the last quarter, which was always going to bring them back into the match. They scored pretty quickly, but it wasn't enough to get over the line against a fighting Eagles outfit. Both teams have been tipped to finsh on the below half of the ladder, but this game was one for the ages, as Fremantle pegged back the margin, kicking 4.2 to the Eagles 2.5 in the last quarter, but it was the Eagles that ran away 14 point winners. A very good solid game from both teams, it was a match that was in halves. West Coast would get away, then Fremantle would peg back, and West Coast would get away again.

Credit to both teams, but with Paul Haselby going down in a hard collison between him and Beau Waters, saw Haselby concussed and taken off the ground by a stretcher. Also some very bad news for Fremantle fans, as Chris Tarrant, who kicked 4 goals this afternoon was a difference to the Freo attack, tor his right hamstring and is expected to miss a couple of weeks, which is not good news for the Dockers. But a gallant effort being 2 men short on the bench, and McPharlin not being 100% after his injury scare in the third term.
