Sheedy gives coaching one last yelp

Local Essendon champion, Kevin Sheedy has told the AFL that he wants to give Coaching, one last horar, before he finishes up on the game. Sheedy coached Essendon for 25 years, before calling it quits, but time away from the game, Sheedy said "i miss it". "I miss waking up early and coaching the teams, i miss travelling interstate, i miss the cold mornings at the beach for recoveries. I miss all that".
Sheedy will coach one more time, at possibly 2 seasons. And the team that he wants to coach, is where he started his career off. At the Richmond Football Club. Sheedy will coach the Tigers through the 2007 and 2008 season, and then he will see where he wants to go, wether to retier or to keep continuing on as a coach.

Richmond are very happy to be recieving Sheedy. Nathan Brown: "We're glad Sheedy is coming to the club. With the succes his had at the Essendon Footy Club over the past 25 years, it will be good to have a person like that, in charge. Hopefully he can bring some joy to the club, as we've been down a bit lately, so hopefully Sheeds can perform as he did with the Bombers".

Blues and Tigers hit the G

Carlton has come away with the round 1 win between Carlton and Richmond at the MCG on a blistering Sunday Afternoon. A wintry day at the G, the Blues were able to kick 16.13 109 defeating Richmond, 15.6 96.... It was a close contest all afternoon with Richmond leading at every change. The Blues, led by Ryan Houlihan, kicked the last 4 goals of the match to come away 13 point winners. A very dissapointing crowd watch the young Blues come to life, and bring up a win, very rare for them.

Ryan Houlihan as mentioned was a star for the Blues in their win. Houlihan kicked 4 goals, 2 in the last quarter which sealed the game for the Blues. Brendan Fevola, the dominant full forward from Princess Park was also on song. 4 goals of the Fev's boot, was another highlight in the Blue baggers win. The coming off Josh Kennedy was also impressive. He kicked 2 goals on debut for the Blues, and he will be looking to get more game time, as a forward.

For the Tigers, it was a gallant effort. Both teams have struggled over the past 2 seasons. Richmond just couldn't find a main goal kicker. Matthew Richardson started the game on the wing, and is being tried in a different posiiton by new coach Kevin Sheedy as he beleieves richo has too much talent to be wasted in the goal square. Richardson only kicked 1 goal for the match, but was very good around the ground. The 32 year old is moving freely. Instead Richmond had to rely on Tivendale and Kayne Pettifer to kick their goals, as both players kicked 2. Young Jack Riewoldt who started at full forward had a reasonable debut, kicking a goal, so he'd be happy.

Not a big fan on this type of football, but anyone who does will love your story. Very well presented and you have a winner here if you can get the support!

Swans win at the G

The Sydney Swans have come away with a 37 point win against the Tigers at the MCG in their Round 2 clash. Sydney went in as the under dogs, but they played some great football all afternoon, to over come the gallant Tigers. Led by their lead up man, Barry Hall who kicked 5 goals for the night, the Swans looked great all over the ground, they have certainly picked up from their 2005 winning premiership, and are looking to challenge this year again.
Nick Davis was also on fire for the Swans, he also kicked 5 tgoals from the Half Forward line, and will be looking to have another good year ahead of him, after a horrid run through injury last season.

For the Tigers, it was a gallant effort. 5 goals from forward sneak, Kayne Pettifer as he played a lone target up forward.A little help from Will Thursfield, who started at full back on Barry Hall, but got moved after Hall kicked 2 quick consecutive goals for the Swans. Thursfield was then moved into the forward line, and made the most of his oppourtunity's by kicking 2 goals himself. Brett Deledio was good through the midfield, and he also added 2 goals to the board, and so did Greg Tivendale on the half forward flank, who also found range from beyond the arch.

It was a close contest all night, but it was the Swans prevailing in the end.
